Philadelphia wasted no time shoring up their beleagured defensive backfield, signing Asante Samuel to a reported 6 yr, 57 Million dollar contract, with 20 million guaranteed. This signing takes a top DB off the market, so it looks like the Bengals are going to focus on DL, LB and retaining their own DB’s. There isn’t [...]
Today, the Bengals made their first deal of free agency. Oddly, they made a trade, not signing a free agent. Detroit DT Shaun Rogers was worth a third and fifth round draft pick. This trade seems to signal the Bengals are moving towards a 3-4 defense, although Coach Lewis has not made any public comments.
The [...]
Officially scratch the Bengals deal. Pro Football Talk and the Detroit Free Press are reporting Shaun Rogers will be traded to the Cleveland Browns for cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third round draft choice. As for why the original deal fell through, all I’m finding is the league didn’t approve it.
As cornerback is a massive [...]
We’ll keep this up all night. Feel free to drop news into the comments if you find it first, but please include a link…
Thoughts on what has transpired so far?
When Phil Savage says the Browns will be active in free agency, he means it. The whirlwind weekend continues as it was confirmed that the team was in talks with the Detroit Lions for defensive lineman Shaun Rogers. Here’s the problem: the Browns are expected to give up their third-round pick and, possibly, cornerback Leigh [...]
At Mlive tonight, Lions beat writer Killer Kowalski is reporting the Rogers trade is in “limbo.” Doing a little on-line poking around, I found a report from Fox Sports NFL writer Alex Marvez, who claims the trade is still being “negotiated.” According to Sports Illustrated and the Detroit News, their reports say “the deal appears [...]

One former Carolina Panther, Keary Colbert, is visiting with the Broncos. The Broncos want a receiver to [...]
From Rotoworld…
(Still, I heard that the Rams had the Josh Brown deal on their official site and pulled it down hours ago. Maybe things fell through? Or–and this is much, much more likely given our luck–maybe we’re just screwed.
On a good note, Drayton Florence to the Jags is not a done deal after all.)
DE Justin Smith, a guy the Vikings have targeted to help alleviate their issues at that position, visited the San Francisco 49ers first, but has reportedly left San Fran without a contract. He is now en route to Winter Park.
Smith is not a guy known for putting up huge sack numbers, but then again, [...]
Looks like there might actually be something to this Lito Sheppard thing. From Pro Football Talk:
With cornerback Asante Samuel in the fold, the Eagles are now going to attempt to trade cornerback Lito Sheppard, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network.
Calls are already coming in for Sheppard, a first-round draft pick in 2002 who is [...]
