Scott Pioli: The NFL?s Hitchcock

Written by Adam Best | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

This Chiefs’ free agency run is turning into a Hitchcock flick.
First, there’s some suspense and build-up. Then something smaller happens (the Mike Vrabel trade) that makes you think things have gotten as crazy as they will get. That’s when the calm before the storm hits. You know, the part of the movie where you finally [...]

Written by Matt DeLucia | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Musket Fire (New England Patriots)

Here are the latest moves from around the NFL, on this the first day of a very frenzied free agency period!
The Denver Broncos have been hard at work signing just about anyone that arrives for a visit.  They’ve signed RB’s Correll Buckhalter (Philadelphia) and J.J. Arrington (Cardinals) to four-year deals.  Also WR Jabar Gaffney (Patriots) four-years [...]

Written by Brian Miller | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Phin Phanatic (Dolphins)

The Miami Dolphins officially lost Safety Renaldo Hill today when he signed with the Denver Broncos.  Hill received a deal worth 10 million over 4 years with 3 million guaranteed.  While the Dolphins spent the first day of free agency entertaining a 3rd string OG and the signing him, the NY Jets were their normal [...]

Buckhalter gone; Dawkins NOT yet

Written by Scott | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Inside the Iggles (Eagles)

NFL Network’s Adam Schefter, a former Broncos‘ insider, confirmed Correll Buckhalter signed with Denver. However, there is no deal done with Brian Dawkins. In fact, according to Schefter the two sides haven’t even met yet. They will either tonight or tomorrow.
A “report” scrolling on an ESPN ticker does not constitute a confirmation. This isn’t to [...]

Titans re-sign Collins and Fuller

Written by gnbishop | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Titan Sized (Titans)

While the big news of the day was the loss of DT Albert Haynesworth in free agency to the Washington Redskins, the Titans were able to re-sign starting QB Kerry Collins and nickle back Vincent Fuller. The Collins deal was closer to what we thought it would/should be (2 years/$14-15 million) and Fuller’s deal is [...]

Raiders courting Khalif Barnes and Marvel Smith?

Written by chrisshellcroft | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Just Blog Baby (Raiders)

In desperate need of an upgrade at right tackle, the Oakland Raiders could once again be turning to the free agent market to try and shore up the O-line.
After last season’s disastrous signing of the now departed Kwame Harris, the Oakland brass appears to be undeterred by past failures in free agency as rumors abound [...]

Written by JeremyBaldwin | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Black and Teal (Jaguars)

Two hours after the start of Free Agency, former Jaguars receiver Reggie Williams was arrested in Houston for possesion of marijuana and a DWI.  Not exactly the way that you want to put yourself out on the market is it Reggie?
Since this is his second DWI, Reggie Williams will face a 4 game suspension whenever [...]

Could Cassel Be The Newest Chief, or Buccaneer?

Written by Matt DeLucia | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Musket Fire (New England Patriots)

I’m still working on the details involving the “major announcement” the New England Patriots were suppose to be making this evening.  At first it was to believed that Matt Cassel was headed to the Kansas City Chiefs.  But hold on could Cassel be the newest Chief, or Buccaneer?  It’s rumored that Cassel might be involved in [...]

Broncos Ink Gaffney

Written by Kim | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Predominantly Orange (Broncos)

It’s a done deal. The Broncos signed Jabar Gaffney to a 4-year, $10 million deal today. They also signed backs Correll Buckhalter and J.J. Arrington, and longsnapper Lonie Paxton.
They could also sign safeties Brian Dawkins (Eagles) and Renaldo Hill (Dolphins). Adding either guy would dramatically improve the defense. Dawkins may be on the older scale, but he still [...]

Dawkins a Bronco?

Written by Scott | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Inside the Iggles (Eagles)

Reports are circulating that Brian Dawkins has signed with the Denver Broncos. Actually, it’s one report from a Raiders‘ writer. Could be true, but no legit source has confirmed this.
What is confirmed, from Adam Schefter, is that the Broncos signed ex-Dolphins free safety Renaldo Hill to a four-year contract. Denver already has strong safety Marlon [...]

There might be more than meets the eye to the deal between the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs, then we know about at this time.  We do know that Mike Vrabel is headed to KC, supposedly for an undisclosed draft pick.  Who or what else might be included, may not be known [...]

Vikes Will Bring Four QBs to Camp, Says Childress

Written by Dan Zinski | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | The Viking Age (Vikings)

Brad Childress spoke briefly to the media this afternoon after Sage Rosenfels‘ introductory press conference. I didn’t listen to it, because Chilly makes my head hurt plus I was organizing my toothbrushes, but reportedly Brad dropped a little hint about the Vikings’ future quarterback plans, saying the team will most likely add a fourth man [...]

Written by Matt DeLucia | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | Musket Fire (New England Patriots)

Well I just learned a very important lesson, never nap on the NFL’s first day of free agency!  The world will pass you by, and you’ll miss so much after only taking a short two hour nap.  That’s how I was feeling when I woke up this afternoon and turned on the NFL Network, to [...]

Next Domino Falls: Vikings Waive Gus Frerotte

Written by Dan Zinski | February 27, 2009 | Comments Off | The Viking Age (Vikings)

The Sage Rosenfels trade spelled the end of the road for Gus Frerotte as a Viking.  This afternoon, the team made it official by waiving the veteran QB, just days before they were to owe him a $250,000 roster bonus. Frerotte had expressed his desire to remain with the team, but only if he was [...]
