Mock Draft: Pick 6 – Cincinnati

Written by Brian Miller | March 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Phin Phanatic (Dolphins)

NOTE:  Andre’ Smith was added by the request of many.  Jeremy Maclin who has received only 4 votes was removed.  You should be able to vote a 2nd time if you choose to select Smith over your first choice.  I submitted a comment in the “comments” section as to why Smith was intentionally left off [...]

Maclin to Visit Cincy

Written by David | March 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Stripe Hype (Bengals)

Add WR Jeremy Maclin to the list of top draft prospects visiting the Bengals. This isn’t surprising — the Bengals can be expected to host most of the potential high picks as a matter of course — but I don’t see a wideout at six.
Speaking of wide receivers, the circus…err, excuse me, the Bengals’ offseason [...]

Interesting weekend for Bills Fans

Written by Tim Redinger | March 30, 2009 | Comments Off | BuffaLowdown (Bills)

This weekend was spent greiving for most Bills Fans, as Friday night nasty rumors swirled around the internet about a possibility that long time team owner Ralph Wilson Jr. had passed away.  Many Bills fans fear that the demise of the long time owner will be the beginning of the end of their hometown football [...]

Is it time for a developmental league?

Written by Tim Redinger | March 30, 2009 | Comments Off | BuffaLowdown (Bills)

Our blogger over at Cat Crave, John White has provided a decent look at how to make a feasible and inexpensive developmental league for the NFL.  You can read his full post at:
http://catcrave.com/2009/03/30/its-time-for-a-minor-league-system/#more-1446
I do not agree with the NFL setting up a developmental league, but at the same time I think one is necessary.  I [...]

For This Week, Everyone Gets To Be a Spartan

Written by kevinferguson | March 30, 2009 | Comments Off | SideLion Report (Lions)

In a time that is economically and politically frustrating , not to mention depressing, Coach Tom Izzo has given us something special.

Around 6 years ago they Announced that the NCAA Final Four would be at Ford Field; It seemed so very far away and distant. Fortunately for this state and city being granted this honor, [...]

Knicks beat Hornets, but fall to Bobcats?

Written by chasethomas | March 29, 2009 | Comments Off | Buckets Over Broadway (Knicks), NBA

Another crazy weekend in NYK basketball as the Knicks beat the short handed hornets but fell too the rising Bobcats.
Even though we played very well against the Hornets friday I’m still not sold on our mental toughness, much like Coach D’Antoni and believe the majority of this team should not return next season.
And with the [...]

It’s Time for a Minor League System

Written by John White | March 29, 2009 | Comments Off | FanSided

Roger Goodell and the NFL pulled the plug a couple of years ago on NFL Europe.  It was losing a ton of money.
The impact has been felt around the league ever since as teams no longer can send players to exotic locales like Cologne and Amsterdam to let them develop a little further before making [...]

AADQ: Manic Monday?

Written by Adam Best | March 29, 2009 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

Personally, I think the drama is going to come later in the week, but a lot of people are projecting that we will have some answers regarding the Chiefs’ disgruntled vets — Brian Waters, Larry Johnson and Tony Gonzalez — when voluntary workouts kick off tomorrow. I guess we’ll have to wait and find out. [...]

Rex Ryan Gives Brett Favre the Ted Thompson Treatment

Written by djlombardi | March 29, 2009 | Comments Off | LombardiAve (Packers)

I ran across this paragraph from this little link:
Clearly, Rex Ryan didn’t want [Brett] Favre, despite saying just the opposite last week. Ryan was hired on Jan. 19. Favre retired on Feb. 11. Not once did Ryan reach out to Favre and try to persuade him to play, claiming he didn’t feel it was appropriate. [...]

Kevin Gregg Will Close for Cubs

Written by Dan Zinski | March 29, 2009 | Comments Off | FanSided

In something of an upset, Lou Piniella has named Kevin Gregg as the Cubs closer for 2009.  It was assumed all along that Carlos Marmol would get that job, but obviously, Gregg’s fantastic spring numbers – 0 earned runs allowed so far in Cactus League play – swayed the manager.  Marmol will be the #1 [...]

Dallas Cowboys Will Not Sign Michael Vick

Written by thelandryhat | March 29, 2009 | Comments Off | The Landry Hat (Cowboys)

Folks, there is just no way on Earth that the Dallas Cowboys will show any interest in Michael Vick. If they do, I very well may fold this blog and call it quits.
Michael Vick, for one, is not going to play anywhere in the NFL as a backup, especially a third backup. The Cowboys just [...]

Lou Saban passes

Written by Tim Redinger | March 29, 2009 | Comments Off | BuffaLowdown (Bills)

Only Marv Levy has won more games than him, but he did coach Buffalo to two AFL championships; and generations of Bills fans will long remember him for that.  Today marks a sad day in Buffalo Bills history as at about 4 am this morning, Lou Saban passed away at the age of 87.
Rest in [...]
