Playoffs Ain’t Easy: Nothing in Miller’s Throat

Written by zoner | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Pippen Ain't Easy (Bulls)

Brad Miller: 8-9 from the floor, 2-2 from 3 and hits all 5 free throws. Add to that 10 boards and 2 blocks and I’d say that Miller is has redeemed himself.
And I’m not talking about the game 5 free throw miss. I’m talking about his series play, which has been spotty, and downright sloppy [...]

Breaking Down Bannister

Written by Wally Fish | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Kings of Kauffman (Royals)

Since being called up April 21st when Doug Waechter was placed on the DL, Brian Bannister has made 2 starts for the Royals.
He has thrown 13.0 innings for the 2009 Royals and sports a shiny 2-0 record with a 0.69 ERA and 1.00 WHIP.  That is where the chocolaty goodness ends with his stats.  A [...]

Favre to Vikings? Let the speculation begin!

Written by Boomer | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Bear Goggles (Bears)

The New York Jets released ‘retired’ quarterback Brett Favre and the speculation of whether or not he will stay retired is rampant.  Viking fans are rolling out the purple carpet and frankly, who can blame them?  If you had Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson vying for the starting quarterback position on your team, you’d be [...]

Reds Brandon Phillips: ?Since You?ve Been Writing About Me Not Hitting, We Haven?t Been Winning?

Written by smitty | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Rum Bunter (Pirates)

Brandon Phillips hasn’t been hitting well.
But that doesn’t cause the Reds to lose.
What causes the Reds to lose is the fact that the Cincy beat writers are writing about it.
Phillips is hitting .188.
Below are some of the quotes from the Cincy Inquirer.
“I’ve been reading up on what you all say (write) and it’s funny stuff,” [...]

Tomahawk Take’s Brave of the Month: Jair Jurrjens

Written by John Scafetta | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Redbird Rants (Cardinals)

One aspect, more than any other, that has plagued the 2009 Atlanta Braves during the first month of the season has been consistency.
April has really been an anomaly for the Braves (10-11).
After beginning the season with such high hopes following the conclusion of the first week of the month with a 5-1 record, the stagnant [...]

Finally Hitting the Road

Written by AZScott | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Venom Strikes (DBacks)

It is true.  Major League Baseball has scheduled road games for the Arizona Diamondbacks this season.  As much as they’ve grown comfortable living at home for the first 18 out of 21 games, it was bound to happen.  Save for one short road jaunt to San Francisco against the Giants, the Diamondbacks will finally get [...]

Von Wafer out…

Written by SJ | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Rip City Project (Blazers)

FOX26 Houston (and now ESPN) report that Von Wafer is out of tonight’s Game 6 courtesy of back spasms caused by a bulging disc. The links are  here and here.
Well. Raise your hand if you thought Von Wafer missing a game would ever be significant? All jokes aside, this isn’t quite a complete momentum swing in the Blazers [...]

A-Rod?s Secret Yankee Nickname: B*tch T*ts

Written by Dan Zinski | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Pacman Jonesin'

Selena Roberts‘ new book on A-Rod will allege, among other things, that the MLB star took steroids in high school, and was still doing them after being traded from the Rangers to the Yankees (despite his insistence that he gave them up while still with the Rangers).  Pretty damning accusations – but maybe not the [...]

Edgerrin James Headed To The Saints?

Written by saintoftouchdown | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Who Dat Dish (Saints)

It’s widely speculated that New Orleans is a likely landing spot for former disgruntled Cardinal runningback  Edgerrin James.
James’ and the Cardinals relationship soured last season after he felt he was not being utilized properly, resulting in him being benched in favor of rookie Tim Hightower.
He eventually re-gained the starting job during the teams  improbale post season super bow run and actually [...]

Written by David | April 30, 2009 | Comments Off | Stripe Hype (Bengals)

Cincinnati Bengals kicker Shayne Graham has signed his franchise tender.
Graham will make $2.483 million in 2008. He will be an unrestricted free agent in 2010, unless the Bengals reach a long-term deal with him in the interim, or tag him again.
Graham was unhappy about being tagged and skipped the first month of voluntary OTAs.
