What About the Rest of the Litter?

With all the commotion surrounding international diaper dandy Ricky Rubio, the rest of the Minnesota Timberwolves seemingly endless draft picks from last Thursday have been lost in the shuffle. Other than aggravating Ricky Rubio, what does the Jonny Flynn selection mean? What about Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Nick Calathes and Henk Norel? Rubio was only [...]

The one who played with Delonte West, Jameer Nelson and Chet Stachitas at St. Joes and was once the Atlantic 10 defensive player of the year. Also the guy who makes Kwame Brown look like Hakeem Olajuwon in the post and has played for three different teams in his brief four season career in the NBA. [...]

Now that the first phase of the Raptors offseason, the draft, is over its time to start thinking about the next phase, free agency. Bryan Colangelo has already addressed two of the major offseason needs for the Raptors. First, by trading the 3-pt specialist Jason Kapono for Reggie Evans, a grinder at the 4 position [...]
Is Regier set to sharpen his Sabres?
Written by Tim Redinger | June 29, 2009 | Comments Off | Sabre Noise (Sabres)
Maybe he is taking some heat for not making the playoffs for two straight seasons after providing a shock and awe team out of the lockout. Maybe he took notes when the Bills targetted and acquired top name players in the hopes of getting better and ending a decade long drought.
The simple fact of the [...]
If Turkey Underwear Helps, Then By All Means Make a Uniform Change

The Atlanta Turkeys?
Could it be? The Indians sure wouldn’t mind.
I loved today’s story in the AJC about Jeff Francoeur’s lucky turkey undies.
The guy could use the help of just about anything, and if he wants to use a pair of undies as his rabbit’s foot, I support him. I support the Atlanta Braves changing the [...]
To Trade or Not to Trade
Written by adamgarnett | June 29, 2009 | Comments Off | Rising Apple (Mets)
After watching the Mets get completely overmatched and outclassed this past weekend by the Yankees, the talk around these parts today focused on the question….what now? There seems to be differing opinions mainly coming from the camps of the paying customer opposed by the actual Met management. From what I’ve seen and heard, the rabid NY media dogs are somewhere [...]
Halladay Outpitched By Niemann In Return
Written by Sooze | June 29, 2009 | Comments Off | FanSided
Toronto Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay, fresh off the disabled list, was out-dueled by a rookie Monday night in his first game back from resting his man-parts.
Tampa Bay Rays newbie Jeff Niemann (7-4, 3.95 ERA) tossed 7.1 solid innings for his third straight decision, allowing just one run on four hits, walking two and fanning one. That’ll do.
One of only four 10-game winners in baseball so far this season, Halladay entered Monday night’s game looking for his eighth straight winning decision, which already marked the longest streak in the majors. Instead, he lost for the first time since April 21st, giving the Blue Jays their third consecutive loss, 4-1.
It’s been a while for Doc, as he hasn’t seen a mound since June 12th, when he exited two pitches into the fourth inning against the Florida Marlins with a sore groin. The righty walked two, struck out seven, and allowed two runs and five hits, but lasted just six innings — only the second time he’s failed to reach seven frames over his last 15 starts.
To the Rays’ credit, they’ve hit 38 bombs this month, and there’s still a day left in June to add to that total. They stole three bases tonight too, bulking their major league-leading total to 121. They would’ve hit 123, but were caught stealing on two occasions.
A bright spot for the Jays in the loss? Third baseman Scott Rolen extended his hitting streak to a career-high 17 games with a leadoff double in the second. You’re doing a good job, Scotty. Good luck against Matt Garza tomorrow night, you and your .250 career batting average with 2 strikeouts against him might need it.
