Warrick Officially a Buck

Written by Justin Malaise | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | We're Bucked (Bucks)

It is being reported by several sources that Hakim Warrick has signed a one year deal with the Bucks.
There is also talk of Sessions getting the official offer at anytime now.
Frank at BrewHoop worked out a scenario where a sign and trade could be worked out between the Bucks and Knicks swapping Sessions for Lee, with [...]

Grabow and Gorzelanny…and Kevin Hart Gone

Written by Dan Zinski | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | Cubbies Crib (Cubs)

There was no doubt the Cubs needed another lefty in the pen, and clearly they didn’t think B.J. Ryan was the answer (he’s only been hitting 87 on the radar gun in his minor league rehab appearances).  Hence the move to acquire John Grabow from the Pirates.  Somewhat surprisingly, the Cubs took on a second [...]

How’s That Foot Taste Sean?

Written by Kevin David | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | District on Deck (Nats)

I was making my usual rounds around the FanSided network this morning and I happened to stumble upon an interesting article on Rum Bunter concerning some rather harsh words Nationals reliever and ex-Pirate Sean Burnett had to say about his former team.  I won’t go into too much detail about what was said, I’ll let you [...]

Pewter Planks Annual Roster Prediction – Defense

Written by pewterplank | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | The Pewter Plank (Bucs)

With 25 spots remaining on the roster after the Offensive and Special Teams selection and 36 players vying for those spots, competition should be high on the defensive side of the ball in camp.  Add in the fact that there are about 20 locks to make the team and the competition is even stronger.
DL – [...]

Thank God For David Ortiz

Written by jordandemarco | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | Yanks Go Yard (Yankees)

We all knew.
Now we know.
For those of you not on planet Earth yesterday, David Ortiz was named as one of the 104 major leaguers who tested positive in Major League Baseball’s 2003 “anonymous” steroid investigation.  Yipee ki yay, motherf*&%er.
As a Yankees fan, I’m ecstatic.  As a baseball fan, I’m ecstatic.  That’s right, I said it.  [...]

Pewter Planks Annual Roster Prediction – Special Teams

Written by pewterplank | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | The Pewter Plank (Bucs)

This is going to be a short one, because I think this is a simple 3 man solely special teams roster.
P – Josh Bidwell
Only one P on the roster, and only one needed.  Bidwell is great at inside the 20 punts, and is a key cog in our battle of field position.
LS – Andrew Economos
Once [...]

Nick Johnson to become a Marlin?

Written by michaeljong | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | Marlin Maniac (Marlins)

From MLBTradeRumors:
ESPN’s Peter Gammons reports that the Marlins “appear to be moving closer” to a Nick Johnson trade. Last we heard, the Fish offered pitcher Ryan Tucker to the Nationals and asked Washington to pay part of Johnson’s contract (he has $2MM remaining). At the same time, Danny Knobler of CBSSports says the [...]

Blogservations, Marlins-Braves series

Written by michaeljong | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | Marlin Maniac (Marlins)

Culminating in tonight’s tough loss to the Braves, the Marlins wrap up an overall solid series, taking two of three from Atlanta and continuing their winning ways. There was a lot of drama and interesting stuff going on during the series, so there was plenty of ammunition for Blogservations. Let’s get right to it.
Jeremy Hermida’s [...]

Spencer Hawes vs. Jason Thompson

Written by Eze | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | A Royal Pain (Kings)

I had plans to write out a full post on my personal views on this situation, but, I’m going to scratch that and let the people decide. After all, this is a democracy, is it not?!
So, who do you feel will have a better season for the Kings this year? Jason Thompson or Spencer Hawes? [...]

Mets Streak was Fun While it Lasted

Written by Adam Garnett | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | Rising Apple (Mets)

Oh well. Was six in a row really too much to ask for? The Mets had their chance last night to extend their winning ways, but I thought the game was over after they failed to score in the first inning. First and Third and no outs and coming up empty against a very game [...]

NHL investigating Hossa’s deal with Blackhawks

Written by Jeffrey Bartl | July 31, 2009 | Comments Off | Blackhawk Up (Blackhawks)

Anything else in this crazy off-season? Jesus H. Christ.
The NHL is investigating whether or not the Blackhawks made yet another boo-boo during contract negotiations, this time with prized free agent signing Marian Hossa. Apparently, Hossa and the Blackhawks discussed Hossa retiring before the contract was up in order to ease the Blackahwks’ cap hit.
The Detroit [...]
