It’s over. The biggest fight in the history of The Ultimate Fighter has come and gone. YouTube street-fighting sensation Kimbo Slice stepped inside the Octagon with grizzled and gutted veteran Roy “Big Country” Nelson tonight. Nelson was the winner, but the fight was somewhat controversial. Slice had Nelson dazed in both the first and second rounds, and although Big Country was lying on him and hitting him repeatedly in both rounds, those shots had nothing on them. Even UFC head honcho Dana White said that the shots were like when a grown man lets a little girl hit them playing around. Kimbo didn’t look hurt, and he was making a concentrated effort to get off the mat.

Whether or not you thought the fight should have been stopped, the results were pretty good for the UFC. Kimbo held his own with a fighter who is probably one of the top 25 heavyweights in the world, and Big Country delivered the goods as well. I’d like to see a rematch when Kimbo has a little bit better ground game, because I don’t think Nelson would want to stand with him. But kudos to Nelson for withstanding some powerful shots from the stone hands of Kimbo, sticking to his game plan and taking the Bearded Badass down to the mat for some ground and pound. Fighting isn’t about making the most entertaining fight, it’s about winning — even if winning means suffocating your opponent with your lard.

The best part of the fight wasn’t the fight at all, but the post-fight comments. In addition to Dana’s comments suggesting the fight was lost more than it was won, he also ripped Big Country. Why? Because the Big Belly Bruiser told White to get “a Double Whopper” for “the King” after the fight, like he had just taken out Brock Lesnar or something. Additionally, Rampage Jackson’s comments about Nelson being on top of you being like “the moon sitting on you” was pretty hilarious. What also was hilarious was Rampage rocking the Kimbo haircut in support of his fighter.

Big Country rubbing his gut like he was Winnie the Pooh or something was also quite comical.

It’s also good to hear that White was somewhat impressed by Kimbo, and that it seems like he’ll get another shot in the UFC. He’s a good, humble dude who definitely has potential, and his popularity can only help the sport. Even if there was no knockout, this was quite possibly the most entertaining night in TUF history. Something tells me we’ll be hearing from both of these big fellas again, probably this season.

Check out the video of the second and pivotal round, plus the entertaining commentary that took place afterward.
