Update: The Kansas City Star reports that Larry Johnson today called reporters “faggot asses.”
On Monday in the Chiefs locker room, Johnson used another gay slur after saying he wouldn’t speak to reporters.
Johnson, sitting next to second-year running back Jamaal Charles, told reporters that “I’m not talking till Thursday,” his usual day of speaking with reporters.
Then Johnson turned away and whispered.
“Get your faggot ass out of here,” he said.
It’s official; Larry Johnson makes Terrell Owens look like Mister Rogers. Seriously, this guy has to be the biggest asshole on the planet. Also, realize that I’m a die-hard Chiefs fan writing that statement. Just look at some of the tweets Captain Three-Yards-Per-Carry sent out after today’s blowout loss to the Chargers.
First there’s the assault on Chiefs head coach Todd Haley.
First off, you shouldn’t insult ANYBODY when you are dressed like that in the pic on your Twitter profile page. You look like the lovechild of Eddie Vedder and Left Eye.
His agent is downplaying it, but Johnson is in big trouble. Has a pro athlete ever insulted his coach on Twitter? Maybe one has called a coach out, but downright insulted? I really don’t recall that ever happening up until this point. Besides, it’s not like Haley doesn’t have a football pedigree. His dad is Dick Haley, aka the guy who drafted Steelers legends like Lambert, Stallworth and Swann. His mentor is Bill Parcells, one of the top five coaches to ever stalk the sidelines. He also coordinated the offense that carried the Cardinals of all teams to last year’s Super Bowl. Nonetheless, to Johnson Haley is just some football novice who is nowhere near as knowledgeable as his father.
Does Johnson have any idea who he’s effing with? Haley is like a younger Parcells, except without the rings. So, yeah, he walks around even more pissed off than the Tuna, if that’s even possible. He’s going to blow a gasket when he wakes up Monday. Good thing he has the bye week to recover, because he’s going to have a stroke when he gets news of this.
The Chiefs won an arbitration case against Johnson this offseason, following his arrest for spitting a drink in some chick’s face at Blonde, a Kansas City nightclub. Because of that, they can cut Johnson at any time with no financial penalty.
After these remarks and considering his history, I’d be shocked if Larry Johnson is still a Chief by the end of this week. Plus, they still owe him millions of dollars over the next two years and he hasn’t scored all season. He’s an overpaid locker room cancer who now runs like Tinkerbell. What’s the over/under on his pink slip — 48 hours? At best, Jamaal Charles will likely replace him as the starter.
As if that wasn’t enough to warrant his release, L.J. also lashed out at fans on Twitter. Here’s another screenshot.
Make you regret it? Oh, you’re going to regret it. You called a fan of the NFL a homophobic slur and then insulted several other fans — yes, those people directly responsible for your ridiculous, inflated salary — about being broke during a recession. You’re right; we the fans do not stop your checks. But Chiefs owner Clark Hunt can. NFL head honcho Roger Goodell can. He’s basically the Dirty Harry of sports commissioners, and you just made his day, punk.
Terrell Owens might catch a lot of crap, and he’s never been an ideal teammate at all. But it’s guys like Larry Johnson who are the real assholes. This guy has no business representing the league, and he certainly has no business representing the Chiefs and the K.C. community. Especially after he called out the people of Kansas City with the “bad guy” clip from Scarface earlier this year on local radio.
This is just the latest in a long line of incidents. Dick Vermeil was right — L.J. is a crybaby. Now we know why Johnson is a slang term for dick.

If he’s such a man that speaks the truth, then he should approach the appropriate people about any issues he has with the team. Not hide behind his monitor calling people ‘lil fags’ with grammar on the level of a 3rd grader.
These people are, or used to be, idols and role models for young kids who grow up watching sports. They don’t need poison pills like this guy in the league who feel they are better than everyone else. It is, after all, a game.
LJ may be a tool but he has a point. Todd Haley never played college football and it’s questionable if he even played high school football. Todd Haley’s father was accomplished in football which likely allowed Todd to climb the ranks of the NFL.
How can you earn the respect of these talented athletes with so little hands-on knowledge?

He needs to get his YPC above 3.0 before he can talk this kind of smack. 2.7 YPC? 8 TDS in 3 years? This isn’t 2006 Larry!

What does playing have to do with coaching? Do you have to be a former player to recognize and bad/lazy tackle? I think it’s a great thing, just because you didn’t hit the genetic lottery doesn’t mean you can’t coach, I hope to see more of this in the years to come. Woking his way up like most coaches do as a scout to a low level assistant all the way up to head coach, his dad’s name didn’t carry him all that way he did it on his own because he’s good at it. To me it’s a lot like claiming an engineer can’t design a building because he was never a construction worker, how are those guys going to respect him without that hands-on knowledge?
