When Dunking Goes Wrong: Ten Really Bad Dunks

bad-dunks

My lack of height and vertical hops precludes me from experiencing the joy of throwing down a monster dunk on a regulation-sized hoop. I’ve crushed at Nerf basketball for over twenty years, but I’m pretty sure posterizing my brother on the seven-foot-high rim in my parents garage isn’t the same as Dwight Howard executing a baseline windmill.

There are few things as thrilling in all of sports as watching a skilled roundballer perfect a twisting, thunderous dunk. It really is a thing of beauty. On the flip side, when someone – be it pro athlete or Pete Pedestrian – blows a jam, it’s pretty damn hysterical.

Here are ten such videos of what happens when dunking goes wrong:

10 – Plastic Man

Stacey Augmon deserves props for even attempting this slam. Nevertheless, he missed.

9 – Julian Wright

It looks like Julian got shot as he was about to drop the hammer. Very embarrassing.

8 – Adam Waddell

You must stick the landing. That being said, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dude go full somersault.

7 – Jerome Dyson

A throw down doesn’t mean throwing the ball into the rim. Chalk it up to sweaty palms.

6 – Jamine Peterson

Can you get more wide open? Great defense by the rim.

5 – Some Guy Named Nikos Marinos

Nikos has major ups! I’m guessing he doesn’t play for the Greek National Team.

4 – Kobe Bryant

“Me no make it.” Gotta love Chick Hearn.

3 – Rafer Alston

“Skip to My Lou” skipped the part where the ball goes into the hoop.

2 – Mascot FAIL

Ouch! Aren’t cats supposed to land on all fours?

1 – Super-douche

Not even a trampoline can help this fool. I like how he keeps his legs pumping.
