Brett Favre Will Make 2010 Debut Vs. 49ers

Written by Dan Zinski | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | The Viking Age (Vikings)

Despite the comical charade Brett Favre and the Vikings insist on going through, everyone already knows Brett will be returning to quarterback the Purple in 2010.
Now we know which team will get the first look at Favre in the preseason: the San Francisco 49ers.
The NFL announced the preseason schedule today, and San Francisco will be the Vikes’ second opponent, on August 22. We assume Brett will be skipping the first preseason game like last year, so, Favre’s first action should come then.
Unless Brett decides he doesn’t feel like making the trip out to Frisco – in which case, [...]

Denard Span Gets Grounded

Written by Fetch | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Puckett's Pond (Twins)

At the Twins split squad game vs. the Yankees today, Denard Span was lucky enough to have about 20 family members, including his mom, sitting near the 3rd base dugout.
But in his first at bat of the game, Span took a defensive swing and lined one over the third base dugout…..and hit is mom. Of [...]

Written by Patrick Allen | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

Football is coming! The NFL 2010 preseason schedule has been released. You may not be surprised to learn that the Chiefs will not be featured in a nationally televised game. Big surprise there. Let’s hope that changes for the regular season. There are no dates yet for any of the Chiefs games but I feature the week the game will be played.
Here are the Chiefs games:
Week 1 (Aug. 12-16)
At Falcons
Week 2 (Aug. 19-23)
At Buccaneers
Week 3 (Aug. 26-29)
Eagles at home in the new Arrowhead
Week 4 (Sept. 2-3)
Packers at home
Notably the Chiefs begin 2010 football by facing future Hall of [...]

How much destruction can Nate Robertson cause?

Written by Michael Jong | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Marlin Maniac (Marlins)

In the wake of the biggest piece of news Marlins fans have had since the Josh Johnson extension (which is sort of sad for us), Nate Robertson has us Marlins fans jabbering a lot more than usual. Part of it is the general excitement of is having something new to talk about, but another part [...]

Help Former Devils Coach Pat Burns

Written by Kevin Whalen | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Pucks and Pitchforks (Devils)

Frank over at The Rat Trick did a great thing in trying to bring out some awareness about former Devils Coach (and the last to win us a Cup), Pat Burns.
Pat Burns has had multiple bouts with cancer and after his most recent diagnosis of lung cancer, he has decided to go without treatment. This [...]

Tribe Fans Get Their Wishes: Brantley to Start and Sowers Placed on Waivers

Written by Ed Carroll | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Wahoo's on First (Indians)

It helps when I check Twitter BEFORE I post. Tribe fans got two of their biggest wishes today, as according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, Jeremy Sowers has been placed on outright waivers (and sent to Columbus) and Michael Brantley has made the team and will start everyday in left.
It was time to cut [...]

I apologize for not posting something in a bit.  I usually do but time is of the essence i guess.
Anyways, The Mets put Pat Misch on waivers acouple days ago, and told him that he would not make the Mets roster.  Because of that, Pat Misch has decided to clear waivers, and report to Triple-A [...]

SI’s Baseball Preview of the Tribe, Why Choo Won’t Sign

Written by Ed Carroll | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Wahoo's on First (Indians)

Sports Illustrated came out with its baseball 2010 preview today, and it’s pretty safe to say the Indians are nowhere to be found in this preview. Other than a quick mention of the Tribe’s starting pitching posting a division-leading 5.30 ERA last year, the Indians are only given a quick gloss-over in the AL Central [...]

Blazers-Knicks Pre-Thoughts

Written by Coup | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Rip City Project (Blazers)

This is a win. Has to be. No, it’s not a disaster if it becomes a loss, but at this stage of the season, with playoff implications, at the Rose Garden, you hope the Blazers can take care of business from the word “Go”.
Because really, the Knicks aren’t as bad as you think. 18th in [...]

Mets Pitching Staff is a Joke….And Not a Funny One at That

Written by Adam Garnett | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Rising Apple (Mets)

Quick. Can you tell me what these numbers represent?
7.94
7.97
8.66
If you guessed the spring ERAs of John Maine, Mike Pelfrey and Oliver Perez, you win a prize. You win a cupie doll. Not exactly the type of numbers one would want to see from their team’s 2nd-4th starters. In fact, not exactly the type of numbers [...]

Rays Starting Pitching Breakdown, Spring Training Stats

Written by Dustin Staggers | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Rays Colored Glasses (Rays)

It’s hard to get overly excited about spring stats, I have said that on this site at least 20 times, but the pitching numbers from our probably starting pitching staff is something that is hard to not get excited about.
Let’s discount the numbers of future rotation members Jake McGee and Jeremy Hellickson, because its not [...]

Merlin’s Magic: Walter Football Mock Draft Review Edition

Written by Merlin | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

I’ll confess, I have a love/hate feeling about Walter Football. In many ways, they do a very good job in commenting on football teams and the draft class. They have been accused of an anti-Chiefs bias. I think that is overblown and unfair. However, what is fair is that they don’t like Matt Cassel and don’t like the direction the Chiefs are going in. While it does not rise to the level of a bias, I believe it does affect their evaluation of the Chiefs.
Recently, Matt McGuire from Walter Football expanded his mock draft to three rounds. For the Chiefs, [...]

Chiefs Links: AFC West Draft Watch

Written by Patrick Allen | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

From ESPN.com:

Kansas City Chiefs: The No. 5 overall pick hasn’t been a sure-thing selection spot. In 2009, the Jets took quarterback Mark Sanchez. He has the makings of being an outstanding quarterback. He led the Jets to the AFC Championship Game as a rookie. However, the results at this spot have been uneven overall. Kansas City took defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey in 2008. Dorsey was considered perhaps the best player available in the draft. He has been slow to adjust to the NFL game and 3-4 defense the Chiefs adopted in his second NFL season. In 2007, Arizona took tackle [...]

Orlando Magic News & Notes: Dwight Howard Spends More Time With His Fans, Ryan Anderson’s Playoff Theme

Dwight Howard was once again out doing an event for his fans. This time, he worked at Champs Sports, but he still had one thing on his mind – a championship.
And on Tuesday, when Howard worked the register at the Champs Sports store at Florida Mall as a promotion for the NBA Store and adidas, [...]

Chiefs Links: Berry As A Corner?

Written by Patrick Allen | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

Check out this article over at NFL.com. It is an interesting argument. If Berry really could be a shutdown corner, could you imagine Berry and Flowers? With Carr as a nickel? Plus with his speed, Romeo could send Berry on corner blitzes to generate more pressure. We’d still need a safety but it is a damn interesting idea.
Several teams at the top of the draft are debating the potential of moving Eric Berry from safety to cornerback after closely studying him on film and in workouts. His movement skills and instincts would be uncommon for the [...]
