Fish Bites

Written by Michael Jong | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Marlin Maniac (Marlins)

Late morning Fish Bites, hope that’s all right for everyone!
- With the Marlins’ acquisition of Nate Robertson yesterday, the entire pitching staff is set for Opening Day. That meant a few additional moves yesterday, particularly sending Tim Wood and Rick VandenHurk down to the minors and releasing Seth McClung. No big loss on McClung, but [...]

Report: Donovan McNabb won’t play in the East Bay

Written by Chris Shellcroft | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Just Blog Baby (Raiders)

You can lead Donovan McNabb to Oakland but you can’t make him sign a contract extension. At least that seems to be McNabb’s lone bargaining chip in the on-going Donovan sweepstakes.
TMZ Sports cites a source close to McNabb stating that he has no interest in playing for the Oakland Raiders and would use his contractual status as a means to avoid being under the thumb of Al Davis in 2010. Without a no-trade clause, McNabb is powerless to veto any dealings the Philadelphia Eagles may engage in. Therefore he’s left with his one year contract as the sole means to [...]

Kelly Gets the Call, 25-Man Roster Complete

Written by John Parent | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Motor City Bengals (Tigers)

The Detroit Tigers announced today that outfielder Clete Thomas has been optioned to AAA Toledo. In doing so, they finalized their Opening Day roster, barring some unforeseen circumstances between now and then.
Thomas will join fellow outfielders Brennan Boesch, Casper Wells, and Wilkin Ramirez with the MudHens, who will presumably try to also get outfield reps [...]

The Raiders And Trade-Backs And Quarterbacks, Oh My! Or, As The Draft Turns

Written by Patrick Allen | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

In a recent article on SFGate.com, home of the San Francisco Chronicle, David White reported that Raiders have been offered the opportunity to trade out of the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Sighting an unnamed source, White claims that an unnamed team offered the Raiders their 2010 second round pick and their 2011 first round pick for the 8th pick in this years draft. Remember, the Raiders foolishly traded away their 2011 first round pick to the New England Patriots for Richard Seymour. Taking this deal would move the team out of the first round this year [...]

A Giant Wednesday for Us All

Written by Paul Graziano | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | G-MEN H.Q. (Giants)

Ah yes, the draft is only 22 days away, and rumors continue to build that the Giants are targeting C.J. Spiller in Round 1 (there is even talk that the Giants are among the teams who have spoken with the Raiders about moving up to pick number 8 in Round 1) and formal visits are being arranged (yes, Giants fans can breathe a collective sigh of relief to know that middle linebacker, Rolando McClain, is scheduled to meet the Giants for a private workout). What does this all mean? Three weeks before the draft offers as much certainty [...]

Redskins take a close look at Tennessee safety Eric Berry

Written by Josh Sanchez | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | NFL Mocks, Other Blogs

New Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan, along with defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, are installing a new 3-4 hybrid defense in Washington.
The hope is that the Redskins will be able to force more turnovers during the 2010-11 season. Washington had a top ten defense last year, but ranked a pathetic 28th in turnover differential — only [...]

To me – I blame the coach

Written by Gary Harding | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Eyes on Isles (Islanders)

I usually do not like to assign  blame for a loss.  If you win – it is a team win – if you lose – it’s a team loss.
However, I think that the powers that be need to recognize when a change to the momentum or kismet needs to be done.  This was not accomplished [...]

Draft Talk: 3/31

Written by Joe Barnes | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | The Ebony Bird (Ravens)

As players finish their Pro Days at their colleges, private workouts with teams begin.  The Ravens have reportedly had 4 players this week come to visit or work out at their facilities, and at least one more is probably coming.

Arizona linebacker Vuna Tuihalamaka “visited” the team on Monday. According to Aaron Wilson, the 6′2″, 230 pound linebacker from Arizona ran a 4.65 40-yard dash at his Pro Day. If the Ravens drafted him, we’d definitely need some nickname so that we wouldn’t copy and paste his name every time.

In his same article, Wilson mentions that Syracuse receiver Mike Williams visited [...]

Fantasy CPR Position Preview: Third Base

Written by awilson | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Fantasy CPR

Baseball’s hot corner will likely make up seven of the first 45 picks in drafts this season.  If you fail to snag a top-tier first basemen in your standard league draft, it is critical to acquire a third baseman that can pick up the slack. Make a priority to get one of the top seven [...]

Donovan McNabb refusing a trade to Oakland?

Written by Chris Kolb | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | NFL News and Rumors

There’s been plenty of discussion taking place around the league this week, concerning Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb and his potential employer(s), and while much of it is speculation at best, the growing sentiment is that McNabb will end up playing for the Raiders next fall.
That said, Oakland fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high [...]
