Who Should Be The Twins Backup Catcher?

Written by Fetch | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Puckett's Pond (Twins)

A 4ish hour argument erupted on Twitter today over who should serve as the Twins interim backup catcher while Jose Morales is out after having wrist surgery. Fortunately the biggest issue for the Twins heading into the year (besides Joe Nathan) is who is going to be backup catcher for a month, so that’s good.
The [...]

Chiefs Links: Regular Season Schedule To Be Released April 13th?

Written by Patrick Allen | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

From Pro Football Talk:
Ryan Cardinal of Vikings.com (in some parallel universe, there’s a Ryan Viking working for the Cardinals), has found via TVGuide.com that ESPN2 will air an “NFL Schedule Release Special” on Tuesday, April 13, at 7:00 p.m.
Cardinal also points out that, more immediately, the preseason schedule will be released on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
It remains to be seen whether the league will announce in advance of April 13 the Week One prime-time games or the Thanksgiving games.  In past years, those contests were announced as part of the [...]

Jazz Play Right Notes Down The Stretch

Written by Alex David, aka Short White Boy | March 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Buckets Over Broadway (Knicks)

In last night’s game, the Utah Jazz came out not just on fire, but darn near explosive.  In the first quarter they shot 7-for-7 from the three-point line, whipping up 44 points in just 12 minutes.  It seemed like another blowout.  However, the Knicks kept fighting, miraculously tying the game in the third.  In fact, they even had a shot at taking the lead when Tracy McGrady was fouled on a three-point shot “attempt.”  I use quotes there ‘cuz it was one of those annoying plays where the defender has their arm sticking forward, so the star player forces contact, [...]

The Royal Sky Is Falling

Written by Gavin Humes | March 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Rink Royalty (Kings)

As the Kings head into the final seven games of the season, it looks like I was… not correct in my predictions. In fact, so far I’m 0-2 in my predictions. Maybe it has something to do with being March. My March Madness bracket was somewhat disappointing as well (though I guess I’m not entirely [...]

Ryan Garko Placed on Waivers

Written by Griffin Cooper | March 30, 2010 | Comments Off | SoDo Mojo (Mariners)

Sigh. This is the type of move that really annoys me. No, it’s not a team-killer, and no, it’s not real surprising after what we’ve all been hearing over the last two weeks (although I certainly did not expect them to just let him go) – but it just comes off as kind of, well, [...]

Jared Gaither Rumors

Written by Joe Barnes | March 30, 2010 | Comments Off | The Ebony Bird (Ravens)

A story that I think has been talked about quite a bit this offseason, but not totally understood, is the Jared Gaither saga. In basic terms, because the Ravens put a first-round tender on him, if any team thinks that he’s worth giving up their first round pick for, they can go right ahead and sign him.  Because teams value their first round picks more than any sane person could imagine, the team is desiring a second-round selection in a trade for the 6′9″ tackle.
Gaither is an incredible physical specimen with tons of upside. At 6′9″ and 340 pounds, he’s [...]

Wild Tiger Masters Bets: Get ‘Em While They’re Hot

Written by Blake Lovell | March 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Pro Golf Now (Golf)

It should come as no surprise that the hoopla over Tiger Woods‘ return to golf is already garnering plenty of attention. And the Masters doesn’t start until next Thursday. But that hasn’t stopped the oddsmakers from formulating what they believe to be the favorites for this year’s tournament at Augusta. Oh, and there’s British bookmakers, [...]

As Bucks Win, Jennings Loses Ground for Rookie of the Year

Written by Justin Malaise | March 30, 2010 | Comments Off | We're Bucked (Bucks)

And I do not care.  Individual awards are great for baseball or contract incentives.  In Football and Basketball they mean very little to fans who care about their team winning.  The pointlessness of the Rookie of the Year award could not have better evidence than this season.  Two weeks into the year the award was Brandon [...]

NFL Preseason Schedule To Be Released Tomorrow

Written by Patrick Allen | March 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

NFL PR man, Brian McCarthy, just tweeted that the NFL will released the preseason schedule tomorrow at 3:00 PM, EST.
While this news isn’t the most exciting bit of information we could have gotten today,  it still means we will have 4 Chiefs games to look forward to soon! While the preseason often doesn’t mean much, it has been very telling the last couple of seasons. The Chiefs looked terribly out of sink on offense last preseason and that continued pretty much all year long. It was also apparent that the offensive line was not playing very well.
While preseason success [...]

The St. Louis Cardinals and Tony LaRussa has named Chris Carpenter their opening day pitcher. No real surprise there!
Carpenter was 17-4 last year with an era of 2.24. He dominated the Reds’ hitters last year as well. He was 4-0 versus the Reds in four starts. He pitched 28 [...]
