Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks To Play Game 7 Sunday
Written by Andrew Melnick | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Howard the Dunk (Magic)
The Atlanta Hawks, powered by a 19-0 third quarter run, defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 83-69, forcing a game 7 in Atlanta on Sunday. The Hawks were left for dead by many after blowing a 10-point lead in game 5, but the Hawks battled back to even up the series led by Jamal Crawford’s 24 points.
This means the Magic will have to wait even longer to play and still won’t know their opponent until Sunday. Since the Magic don’t play until Tuesday, Head Coach Stan Van Gundy is giving the team the day off Saturday.

The St. Louis Cardinals are on a roll after sweeping the Braves, but Mother Nature is slowing down the club’s game with the Reds tonight. St. Louis and Cincy are in a rain delay in the sixth with the Reds leading 3-2. The Cards jumped out in front early after Matt Holliday’s two-run single in [...]

Full Recap coming tomorrow. A 29-11 third quarter propelled the Atlanta Hawks into a Game 7 back in Atlanta on Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks. Both teams struggled offensively but the Hawks did enough defensively in that third quarter and controlled the boards to finally take control of the game. The Hawks were able to keep the Bucks out of the paint and limited the amount of easy shots, instead forcing them to take long contested jump shots. In the process the Hawks limited the Bucks to only eight offensive rebounds for the game.
As good as the third quarter [...]
Has Money Hurt the NFL?

Has Money Ruined Football?
As football fans we often forget about how the game is tainted by money. We love the action, the taste of victory, and the heartbreak of defeat. As fans we live for the last second touchdown drives and the thrill of watching your favorite player breaking a record. However, too often than not we hear ourselves referencing to the “business” side of the game.
There isn’t one player interview or press conference where we don’t hear “it’s a business”. Football has become a job not a game. I would say it all starts with how the owners treat [...]
Perfect Power Play Propels Pens Past Habs In Series Opener
Written by IronCity | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Pens Labyrinth (Penguins)
First the good news. The fourth-seeded Penguins looked dominant for a majority of tonight’s second-round opener against the eighth-seeded Canadiens in Mellon Arena. The crispest power play in memory went a perfect four-for-four in propelling the favorites to a 6-3 victory. Despite being outshot 31-24, the Penguins overcame a sluggish start to keep a comfortable lead and chase Montreal’s first-round hero, goalie Jaroslav Halak, after five markers on 20 shots.
Now the bad news. A freakish injury to Jordan Staal in the second period could prove costly. Canadien fans will surely counter with the loss of [...]

The Washington Nationals are getting exactly what they have not been getting the past two season. It’s called quality pitching. It’s coming in droves. Tonight was no exception. The Nationals got a quality start from Scott Olsen combined with an effective bullpen performance to lead the Nationals to the win. The win jumps the Nats to 13-10 and in sole possession of second place in the NL East, hopping over the Philadelphia Phillies, who lost 9-1 to the first place Mets.
Scott Olsen pitched 6 shutout innings to improve to 2-1 and lower his ERA to 4.35. [...]

No Quarters for Pac Man. For Now.
Written by nate | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Stripe Hype (Bengals)
Joe Reedy relayed an interview on Sporting News Radio’s 2 Live Stews with Pac Man Jones. Jones said he has been in contact with the Bengals and is working out and doing his best parenting impression until a team calls.
Even though the Bengals have had some luck with reclamation projects as of late, I wouldn’t push it with Pac Man. As of now, the team is okay at corner with starters Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph and reserves Morgan Trent and David Jones. Plus, the team just drafted rookie Brandon Ghee from Wake Forest.
It’s one thing to gamble on a player because of [...]
Shawn Kelley Optioned to Make Room for Lee

Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Okay, I’ve almost come to terms with the fact that Don Wakamatsu and this organization have an irrational love for Sean White, but really, guys? You’d keep Jesus Colome over Shawn Kelley? You have to figure that guys like Tony Blengino have absolutely no say in roster construction stuff, because I guarantee [...]

Floyd Mayweather Jr. puts his undefeated record on the line when he meets veteran powerpuncher Shane Mosley tomorrow night over 12 rounds at the MGM arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the biggest fight of the year so far. Mosely is also being touted as the toughest fighter Mayweather has ever faced.
Saddled by perhaps the stupidest tagline in all of boxing history–Who R U Picking?–Mayweather-Mosley features two of the biggest names in boxing facing off for the kind of glory most fighters only dream of. Both fighters have won an assortment of alphabet trinkets in various weight classes over [...]

Time to Battle
Written by Eugene Markman | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Broad Street Buzz (Flyers)
On this eve, the final day of April, in the year 2010, the Flyers are preparing an attack. This time, it is not the demon from the swamplands of New Jersey. This time, it is an even greater foe. They are gathering the troops, circling the wagons, and studying their foe. For now, we prepare to face the Boston Bruins.
They are lead by their massive captain, a mercenary from Slovakia, Zdeno Chara. His bite is far worse than his bite. Following him is a rag tag bunch of talent, a mixture of old and new, and raw determination. A rabid [...]
