Throw The Book At Him

Written by Michael Engel | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Kings of Kauffman (Royals)

With Chris Getz returning from the disabled list, Victor Marte’s brief stay in the Kansas City bullpen came to an end, as he was optioned back to Omaha, which returns the Royals to a typical seven man bullpen.  So much has been made of the failures of the bullpen in 2010 for the Royals.  And I don’t want to relive the pain, but, hey, I’m a Royals fan.  Pain is what we do around here.

The eight man bullpen was an odd choice to counteract the blown saves.  Dayton Moore and Trey Hillman did so with the thinking that with more [...]

What do we do now?

Written by Coup | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Rip City Project (Blazers)

It’s a little strange not having a game to look forward to, isn’t it? It’s like the day after the final game of your senior high school sports season. You’ve had practices and games after every day of school for four years, and all the sudden the final bell rings and you find yourself a little unsure of what do to next.
Well, there’s plenty of great playoff basketball to watch, and even if you don’t care about the outcome or aren’t the type of person to follow the league through League Pass during the regular season, you can learn a [...]

Brad Childress Calls Brett Favre’s Bad Ankle “A Life Issue”

Written by Dan Zinski | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | The Viking Age (Vikings)

Clearly, Brad Childress is not concerned about Brett Favre’s ankle, or the prospect of the QB having to undergo surgery on it.
“That’s been ongoing,” Childress said. “That’s a life issue for him.”
In other words, Childress thinks Favre can have that cleaned out, and he will be good-to-go.
He better hope that’s the case, anyway.

Chiefs Open ESPN’s Power Rankings At #29

Written by Patrick Allen | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

I know these things don’t really matter but I just really enjoy Power Rankings. If a bum on the street handed me his own personal NFL Power Rankings written on the back of a piece of used toilet paper, I would probably give him a buck and read them before showering in anti-bacterial gel.
It looks like all the praise heaped upon the Chiefs draft was not enough to move them up in the ESPN.com Offseason Power Rankings. The Chiefs opened the 2010 rankings at #28, ahead of only the lowly Bucs, Lions and Rams.
Hey, what do you expect when [...]

Orlando Magic Practice Report: Friday, April 30th

Written by Andrew Melnick | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Howard the Dunk (Magic)

The Orlando Magic practiced for the second consecutive day on Friday.
Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy was very happy with Thursday’s practice but was not as impressed on Friday.
“I thought yesterday was really good,” Van Gundy said. “Not as good today.”
Van Gundy thinks once the Magic know who their opponent is and when they will play, their focus will be better.
On Friday, Orlando’s focus was on the Milwaukee Bucks because that is the only team the Magic have a chance to play on Sunday. The Bucks will host the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night at 7:00 pm EST with a [...]

A’s Injury Woes Worsen

Written by Joseph Lopez | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Swingin' A's (Athletics)

After a strong start to the opening month of the new 2010 season, the A’s are 3-7 in their last ten games and are currently riding a three game losing streak. The A’s promising season seems to be heading south, especially since they’ve had Kurt Suzuki to the 15-day DL. Suzuki joins SP Brett Anderson, [...]

AA Logo Contest: “Haley’s Comet”

Written by Patrick Allen | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

The AA community has spoken and has given Jamaal Charles the nickname, Haley’s Comet. Not everyone loves it but hey, there are worse nicknames out there…*COUGH…ORTON….NECKBEARD…COUGH!
Every good nickname needs a logo…er, at least at AA they do. I made a call earlier for some Haley’s Comet logos and we got a few in.
We are going to have a vote to decide our favorite. Right now I have 3 and I am going to post them so you can start thinking about it. This is also a last call, in case anyone out there is working on one but hasn’t sent [...]

What’s In a Number? Say 54

Written by Brian Miller | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Phin Phanatic (Dolphins)

For 6 seasons of football I wore the number 55.  It’s like a second part of me even after all these years of being absent from the game.  I still watch with interest as a player suits up on the Miami Dolphins and dons the double 5’s.  It’s a source of pride in some respect.  And that was from some 20 years ago.  If the number means so much to me now, imagine what it means to a player who has worn it for the better part of their adult life. What exactly is in a number?
Jason Taylor wore number [...]

Hockey Town to be “Happy” In 2011

Written by Joe Dexter | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Octopus Thrower (Red Wings)

In the sport of hockey, there is some thrill seeing a man of little stature succeed. No doubt about it, most Wings fans will be happy to hear that the man that put happy into hockey will be returning to the Red Wings locker room next season. It might be because he clucked and licked [...]
