Peel St. in Montreal was buzzing Wednesday night after the Canadiens came from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Washington Capitals, and eliminate the President’s Trophy Winners in seven games. You all know basically how it went, so we won’t get into it again. But basically let’s look forward to the upcoming series as Montreal now gets to face the defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Following a report today by ESPN’s Ed Werder that Brett Favre will need ankle surgery if he hopes to continue his career, several media outlets are saying they believe Favre could finally hang it up and retire — for good.
But anyone who thinks that just hasn’t been paying attention to Favre’s career. He’s easily the most competitive guy to ever hit a football field, and isn’t likely to quit playing until he can no longer walk. All season long, despite a ridiculous amount of adversity ranking from on-court injuries to front office drama, the Blazers never gave up. And that fact right there is the only thing that’s keep the sting of Game 6’s elimination away. This was a team to be proud of and it is only fitting that they went out in such a prideful way.

It wouldn’t be an offseason in the NFC North without trying to figure out what Brett Farve will do in the upcoming season. The San Antonio Spurs came out and did what they needed to do. That was to not let the Mavericks get off to the start they did during Game Five in Dallas. Dallas took control of that game and well you guys know how that ended up.

I’d say that was done well, considering how many needs this team actually has. We all saw the pictures of Brett Favre’s bruised ankle after the NFC Title Game. The image was nasty to be sure, but now it turns out, it was even worse than it looked.
According to a report by ESPN’s Ed Werder, the ankle is still giving Favre problems, and if he wants to play in 2010 he will have to undergo surgery.
That opinion comes via Dr. James Andrews, who also advised Favre last off-season when he was coming off a torn biceps tendon.
