A Giant Feagles Friday
Written by Paul Graziano | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | G-MEN H.Q. (Giants)
Friday, April 30, 2010 is a remarkable date for a few reasons (today, rookie minicamp begins, running through May 2, 2010, and we get the first look at JPP, Linval and the rest of the Giant rookie class); I go with my wife to another baby doctor appointment to check in on our little linebacker in the making, and the Giants bid farewell to one of the all-time punting greats, Jeff Feagles.
There will be a press conference today during the first day of the Giants rookie camp, with Jeff Feagles officially announcing his retirement from pro football after 22 years [...]
Uplifting Redskins Story

This was aired on NBC4, but a touching story of a Marine who surprised his wife at cheerleader practice. This is definitely a must see.
Porcello Pitching His Way to Toledo
Written by John Parent | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Motor City Bengals (Tigers)
This wasn’t supposed to be the problem.
The Tigers were supposed to be a team with flaws, but the starting rotation wasn’t to be one of them, at least not the top three.
I saw something that shocked me quite a bit this morning. The Tigers have one starter with an ERA under four. That starter is [...]
Brett Wallace and The Doubters
Written by Mat Germain | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Jays Journal (Blue Jays)
I am usually in pretty exact agreement with Nathaniel Stoltz in reference to prospect potential, but do take exception at his criticism of Brett Wallace and that of other similar doubters. Nathaniel recently included Brett on his hot shots list within his This Week in Prospects column on Call to the Pen, but had this to say about him:
“I’m not a big Wallace fan. To be a great first baseman in this league, you have to have great plate discipline and power. It’s tough to be an elite-level hitter (like a first baseman should be) without having both of those [...]

Washington Capitals GM George McPhee was on DC 101 this morning and addressed some Caps issues. We will provide a one hit summary here. We heard some of these ourselves and others we thank OnFrozenBlog for.
This is not our issue of what is wrong with the Caps and post-Series wrap up. That will come Monday with a poll. So look for that.
Firston D Tom Poti. Poti took a shot to the face from a puck shot. That shot knocked Poti out of game 7 and also led to surgery on his eye. GMGM (GM George McPhee) said Poti [...]

Playoff Breakdown – Grant Hill’s Defense
Written by Justin DeFeo | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Sir Charles In Charge (NBA)
With the Suns beating the Trail Blazers in Game Six and advancing to the second round, a lot of the talk last night was about this being the first time Grant Hill advanced a round in the playoffs in his career, a fact that never occurred to me until last night.
Grant Hill has had quite [...]
Panthers Mini-Camp Getting Underway in Charlotte
Written by Eric Quackenbush | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Cat Crave (Panthers)
Well Panthers fans, we along with the rest of NFL fans are just another step closer to training camp, preseason, and then the 2010 NFL regular season. Not bad, considering that up to this point, time has slowly plodded along at the speed of smell.
Getting underway today are mini-camps throughout the league, including our Carolina Panthers.
So here are a few things to look at, should you decide to attend any of the mini-camp sessions, as I will unfortunately not be able to make the 1,400-mile round-trip. But you can always submit pics of your time on our Facebook page!

The Last Ride?

After having 24 hours away from the debacle that was the fourth quarter of game five, my head is clearer. It still may not have a clue about what is going to happen or should happen in game six but I can at least come up with some thoughts that aren’t fueled with emotion. Yesterday I put up a mock draft post and was immediately called out on twitter by @DrtySouthSports asking if I was looking ahead already and if the season was over. Just for the record the mock draft post had been planned for a couple of [...]

Walter Jones Officially Steps Aside for Russell Okung
Written by Bob Cunningham | April 30, 2010 | Comments Off | NFL Spin Zone (NFL)
In a move that’s been expected for a while, Walter Jones officially announced his retirement from the NFL. The Seahawks prepared themselves for the announcement last week when they drafted Oklahoma State left tackle Russell Okung with the sixth pick in the draft.
Jones retires with nine Pro Bowls over a 13-year career that ends due to lingering knee issues. Jones hadn’t played a game since Thanksgiving in 2008, so it’s not exactly shocking that he’s decided to hang up his cleats.
The Seahawks are already in the process of retiring Jones’ No. 71 jersey — a rarity in Seattle.
Other than Jones, [...]

Morning Addicts! Make sure you check out this first quote and then go read the rest of the article. It is an excerpt from a book by Haley mentor Bill Parcells. It is a speech he gave to the rookies when he was coaching the Jets. If I didn’t know, I would have sworn this was Todd Haley talking. It is really interesting so check it out.

Here is a review of the major events in the minors for the Jays on Thursday, 29th of April:
AAA Las Vegas – Won 3-1 vs Colorado Springs
The 51s were the recipients of Robert Ray’s best start of the year. He gave them 6 innings of work, only giving up 5 hits and 1 ER while striking out 4 (no walks). The outing earned Ray his 2nd win of the year and lowered his ERA to 4.57.
Steven Register (5.02), David Purcey (3.00), and Jeremy Accardo (0.00) all chipped in with 1 shutout inning a piece that had Accardo earning his 1st save [...]
