Redskins take a 13-7 lead into the second half.
3rd QUARTER REDSKINS 13 Lions 14
Redskins force a three and out with a big sack from Albert Haynesworth. Redskins get the punt and Brandon Banks fumbles it, but recovers his own miffed punt return. Redskins come out the same way they were in the first half, three and out and a punt. Lions driving and inside the Redskins 10 yard line. Nice defense in the red zone. Redskins get a critical penalty to give the Lions a big first and goal. Touchdown Lions, Stafford to TE [...]

I just look at the movie Network, when network presenter Howard Beel, made his famous speech.
It is time for the Isles to get some images of anger and emotion in. It is not that they are not playing with it – it does not show. The last minute of the 6-1 loss to Philly last night – when Briere did that slash onto the face of Frans Nielsen – it enraged the Isles, especially one Rick DiPietro – who had a clunker of the game to say the least. The Pink pads were not good luck at all.
Offensively – the [...]

TaylorMade golf gear has come out with their 2011 line of NFL golf hats and we have one to give away to a reader. All you needed to do was give SideLion Report a “like” on facebook or become a follower on twitter. Thank you to all of you that have become SideLion Report followers because of this giveaway!
Is there a better way to select the hat’s winner than to draw a name out of a hat? Maybe there is but it seemed fitting anyway. Congratulations to Chris Zandstra! If for some reason Chris doesn’t respond to my message to [...]

Bellator’s lead man Bjorn Rebney has been clamoring for quite some time that he’d like to co-promote with Strikeforce and put on some superfights. His idea is that the two organizations could do some champion vs. champion bouts and put together a pay-per view event.
Specifically, Rebney would like to see his lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez take on Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez. He has also mentioned Hector Lombard vs. Jacare Souza and Ben Askren vs. Nick Diaz. All of the bouts have exciting potential.
In defense, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said on the Sherdog Radio Network that he was also interested in [...]

The Jazz are angry.
Reason #1 – Their name is the “Jazz.” Seriously, were the “Kenny G.’s” or he “Pan Flutes” not available? What a terrible name.
Reason #2 – The Jazz are 0-2. They haven’t …

It was a busy week for the Illinois Fighting Illini men’s basketball program, beginning with the Orange and Blue Scrimmage last Sunday, including mid-week decisions from recruits Chasson Randle and Mike Shaw, moving to Big Ten Media Day on Thursday and concluding with a sloppy and ugly victory against Lewis during an exhibition opener on Friday night.
Here’s a recap of the week that was in Illinois basketball.
Have a safe and happy Halloween.

Entering the 2010 season, the A’s figured to be a team built around their strong pitching and defense. In retrospect, that was the case for this year’s A’s team. The A’s finished with a .500 record for the first time since 2006, and showed a lot of growth and maturation for a relatively young and inexperienced squad.
The A’s signed OF Coco Crisp in the offseason with the hopes that he and fellow speedster Rajai Davis would get things done on offense and create plenty of scoring opportunities. Crisp, however, spent a majority of the first-half on the disabled-list, and Davis [...]

This picture is not from 2010.
Erik Bedard didn’t pitch in 2010. He was supposed to return in mid-June and join Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee in one of the greatest one-two-three punches in Mariners history. Then the M’s started to tank and the management figured that since Erik wasn’t doing particularly well in his rehab assignments they may as well shut him down for the season – before his season even began.
Outlook: Bedard might return to the M’s in 2011. He might not. He’d certainly help out the club if healthy, but in all likelihood he won’t be, so I’d prefer the [...]

The defense is predictable and cannot tackle, the ball bounces off the hands of the receivers for interceptions, and our offensive line has penalties on positive plays.
What the krunk?
Lewis is too good to cover in that much open space. Yes the players are culpable, but the defensive scheme must put them in a position to succeed. We are failing at that right now.
Owusu-Ansah isn’t special. There is nothing seen that suggests he should continue returning kicks. In his defense, he gets to at least the 20 and doesn’t fumble, but mediocrity should not he satisfactory.
We want [...]

The full list of inactives for todays game in Big D against the Jacksonville Jaguars has been released. In no surprise, Tony Romo is the biggest name on the list of inactives for the Cowboys.
Chris Gronkowski, the rookie fullback who inexplicably blew a block that left Romo with the broken collarbone, has been benched for today’s game. It is clear that he wasn’t ready for the NFL after he completely missed New York Giants linebacker Michael Boley on the blitz last week.
Tight end Scott Chandler will likely fill in for Gronkowski, as he did in week 5 against Tennessee.
Here is [...]
