A Game the Jags Could Have Won – Who looked Crisp in Week 12?
Written by Luke | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Black and Teal (Jaguars), Naptown's Finest (Colts), Titan Sized (Titans)
Losing to a team that you’ve dominated an entire game is always disheartening. After a three game streak of close wins, the Jaguars just couldn’t pull it off against the Giants. On the bright side: The Titans and Colts both lost. But when the bright side is two other teams in the division losing, you know you’ve got problems. So, this week we take a look at who was crisp, and who’s soggy. Follow the jump to find out.
The Crispest of the Crispies: Kirk Morrison. Yes, I know the defense didn’t do such a great job in the second half. [...]
Magic Overcome Piston Curse, Slow Start for Fourth Straight Win
Written by Brian Serra | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Howard the Dunk (Magic)
The Orlando Magic defeated their former rivals, the Detroit Pistons, by a score of 90-79 at the Amway Center Tuesday night. Once again, the Magic overcame a sloppy first half filled with low energy and even worse execution on the way to their 4th straight victory. The Magic were led in scoring by Rashard Lewis who dropped in 20 points on 7-10 shooting. Only one other Magic starter scored in double figures (Vince Carter, 13 points) and the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, Dwight Howard, was held to only 9 points. [...]
Daniel Orton Assigned To The D-Leauge
Written by Andrew Melnick | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Howard the Dunk (Magic)
Per Scott Schroeder of NBA Fanhouse, Magic rookie Daniel Orton will be assigned to the New Mexico Thunderbirds of the NBA Developmental League.
With the Thunderbirds, Orton will be able to ease back into game shape while also testing out the offensive repertoire Magic big man coach Patrick Ewing has been teaching him. His D-League coaches might also be able to teach him a few tricks as both head coach Darvin Ham and assistant Sean Rooks — who played his final NBA season as a member of the Magic — have NBA experience in the post.
The assignment is particularly surprising considering [...]
What Can the Browns Do To Save Jake Delhomme From Himself
Written by Jimmy Weinland | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Dawg Pound Daily (Browns)
Could it be that Jake Delhomme is the Browns’ best option at quarterback next Sunday heading into Miami, and also the worst at the same time?
We’re about to find out.
The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde quarterback looked great early against the Carolina Panthers, guiding the Browns to a 21-7 lead. Then the Panthers made their move in the second half when Hyde took over. He fumbled and threw two interceptions, in the span of five plays!
The Brett Favre-like dizzying highs and terrifying lows are what the Browns paid for with Delhomme. Now they are stuck with him.
Knowing your player’s strengths [...]
Squashing Michael Vick to Vikings Rumor
Written by thevikingpig | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | The Viking Age (Vikings)
There was an Internet rumor yesterday floating around on how the Minnesota Vikings will be prepared this offseason to offer Michael Vick a “megadeal” and how it is the owner’s #1 priority. This rumor was started “Incarcerated Bob from Jersey” of ‘Boomer & Carton’s’ WFAN Sports Talk Radio Show.
Before we order our #7 purple jerseys as if Randy Moss was back in town, it must be noted for three reasons on how this story is about as believable as Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus being engaged. Wait, what?
1) I follow NFL as much as the next guy and [...]

NFL gives Titans’ Finnegan a pass
Written by Drew Hall | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | NFL, Riggos Rag (Redskins), Titan Sized (Titans)
The aftermath of “The Incitement at Reliant” tells us one thing. A player can avoid suspension for instigating a throw down as long as his target throws back. Both Courtland Finnegan and Andre Johnson avoided suspensions while getting hit with $25,000 fines each.
The NFL has traditionally avoided suspending two players engaged in a physical altercation. The rationale being a players helmet protects them from potential harmful blows, thus the hazard is minimized. However when the helmets came off in Houston on Sunday, the league missed wide right on creating a new precedent. Instead, they ended up reinforcing an image that they have aggressively tried to [...]
Illini-Tar Heels Full-Court Vision: Live Blogging, Commentary & Analysis
Written by chrismaynard | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Writing Illini (Illinois)
10:32 p.m. Update: Illinois wins 79-67.
Illinois led by seven points at the half due to its three-point shooting but won this game in the second half because of the inside play of its senior big men, Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale.
Davis had a huge second half, finishing with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, while Tisdale was also large, adding 14 points and getting his half-hook to fall after struggling with this shot in previous games.
It’s rare when Davis and Tisdale are simultaneously clicking on offense as they were in the second half tonight, and Illinois is a much [...]
Caps Make an Early Deal
Written by Bill Mayer | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Pens Labyrinth (Penguins)
Washington is serious about making a Cup run this season. The Caps certainly didn’t waste any time upgrading their lineup, dealing Tomas Fleischmann to Colorado for defenseman Scott Hannan. Who says you have to wait till the deadline to make a big splash?
This is a great trade for the Caps. Hannan is a reliable, tough-as-nails blueliner who instantly upgrades Washington’s defense corps. He’s a shutdown guy who’s a royal pain-in-the-blank to play against. When you look at Hannan’s career stats, the thing that jumps out is his durability. He’s played at least 79 games in seven straight seasons.
Hannan waived his [...]

Well, the hockey blogosphere is all atwitter over Sidney Crosby’s alleged slew foot of New York’s Ryan Callahan in Monday’s game. To exacerbate the sitch, the Rangers’ Brandon Dubinsky called it a “dirty play” in an interview between periods and went on to say “that’s the type of guy he is,” insinuating that Crosby is a dirty player. What has every non-Pens fan even more upset is the fact Callahan received an interference penalty on the play.
The obvious fallout sees Crosby haters calling him every name in the book, while Pens/Crosby fans scream their support from the rooftops.
Look at the [...]

Grant Balfour declines Rays arbitration offer
Written by Matt Staton | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | MLB, Rays Colored Glasses (Rays)
Grant Balfour has decided to decline the Rays arbitration offer. This is very surprising news for the Rays organization who believed he would sign the estimated $2 million dollar, 1-year deal for the Rays. Now as a free agent, Balfour will be able to sign with any team he chooses, but this may be hard. Balfour is considered a Type-A free agent which means which ever club signs Balfour, the Rays will get a 1st round pick in the draft.
Balfour is an older, middle relief pitcher that is stating he wants a multi-year deal. [...]
