The cross-river rivalry is renewed as the Nets and Knicks will tip it off for the first time this season at Madison Square Garden. The Nets (6-11) currently trail the new-look Knicks (9-9), now with Amare Stoudemire and Raymond Felton on board, by two-…

Chris Paul Crunch-Time Conundrum

Written by James Grayson | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Swarm & Sting (Hornets)

With all the recent bickering about what’s going on with the Hornets many fans are continuing to outlay their frustrations at Chris Paul and his inability to “step-up” in the recent crunch time minutes. I am one to be particularly disappointed with Paul but it’s because I know (and we know) that he’s capable of so much more.
When ESPN is talking about Russel Westbrook stepping up in the last 4 minutes it pains us because we know it should be Chris they are talking about. That instance of late game failure on the Hornets part was due to three things:

Coaching
Lead-Player [...]

How Many Players Will Be In The Rotation Tonight?

Written by Alex David, aka Short White Boy | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Buckets Over Broadway (Knicks)

One of the oddest things about the New York Knicks’ double-overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday was that it also featured both coaches using double rotation strategies: getting everyone a shot initially, only to end up with a short leash.  By the end of the first quarter, Detroit coach John Kuester had already gone ten players deep.  For the Knicks, Mike D’Antoni went nine-deep in the first half, which might not seem like he went too deep into his bench, until you see who he played.
Two of our regulars, Toney Douglas and Ronny Turiaf, were out with minor [...]

Unlucky 13 – Two More Green Bay Packers Added To IR List

Written by Melinda Banks | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | LombardiAve (Packers)

The Green Bay Packers have increased the number of players on the Injured Reserve list by two today.
Linebacker Brandon Chillar, who had tallied 18 tackles an INT and a sack this season, suffered a season ending injury during the Atlanta Falcons game.
The second player added to IR is Tight End Spencer Havner.  Havner, was cut by the Packers earlier this season but was re-signed 18 days ago, after the Detroit Lions cut him from their squad.  He suffered an injured hamstring on Sunday.

The official total for the number of players on IR for the Packers is now a staggering [...]

It’s ALIVE!!! – Observations of a Mad Scientist (Bears shock… Everyone)

Written by City | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Bear Goggles (Bears)

It moves! It half-lumbers, half-shuffles off the table. After all of this careful work, after intensely measuring such fragile ingredients, after successfully balancing nerve-wracking nurturing with flat-out guesswork, what is going through the mind of our triumphant Mad Scientist? Is he dancing a jig, giggling like a crazed hermit? Is he slumped in exhaustion, his head buried in his sweaty labcoat? Are his arms raised in tearful elation or folded in self-congratulatory satisfaction?
I believe that our Mad Martz is a perfectionist. I believe that the elation of watching his offense score 21 points in one half, of managing a single [...]

Could Marlins have done better with signings?

Written by Michael Jong | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Marlin Maniac (Marlins)

Fellow Maniac Isiah had a good question following the signing of free agent Javier Vazquez.
Michael, do you have any idea as to why we didn’t go for Jon Garland? he’s 31 and pitched 200 innings with a 3.47 ERA last season, and he just signed a one-year deal for $5 million (plus incentives to $8 million max), while pretty much at his prime. We instead decided to sign what looks like a 50/50 chance at a washed up Vazquez for at least $6-7 million guaranteed?
I admitted that this was an excellent question. In addition to the Jon [...]

Strength Up The Middle

Written by Frank Meyer | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | District on Deck (Nats)

Centerfield, shortstop, second base, and catcher positions need to have solid players who are strong defensively and produce offense. There is little argument to addressing the roster up the middle as seen from the Texas Rangers, who lead the league in runs scored and was one of the best teams defensively with Molina, Andrus, Hamilton, and Kinsler. The Nationals are filling these voids and providing depth at these positions. Roger Bernadina has proven that he is a future gold glove winner with his tremendous range and howitzer arm, which could allow him to be the every day center fielder. Ian [...]

A Look at the Possible 2011 Diamondbacks Starting Rotation

Written by Scott Allen | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Venom Strikes (DBacks)

Now that the Arizona Diamondbacks have parted ways with Brandon Webb, seemingly, and have traded for Zach Duke, the D’backs seem to be addressing their pitching situation for next season.  As it looks today, here is what the 2011 D’backs starting rotation would be, of cause assuming they make no other moves and that for sure is uncertain right now and it would not surprise me if they went and got yet another starter.
Ian Kennedy – not sure if he fits in as a number one starter, but I think Daniel Hudson isn’t ready for the number one spot [...]

Pacers-Kings Preview: Here Comes Tyreke, Sactown

Kings coverage: Sactown Royalty, Purple Panjandrum, A Royal Pain, Cowbell Kingdom, Kings Gab
——————-
The Indiana Pacers have now shown that they can be one of the top teams in the league and beat the top teams in the league. The record may not be all that fancy, holding on to an 8-7 mark, but it’s good enough for Indy. And two big wins have happened, as the Pacers knocked off the two most-hyped teams entering the season: The Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat. Indy knocked [...]
