I realize it hasn’t been as long as 2001 since the Arizona Diamondbacks made the playoffs, it was 2007 to be precise. However I found this video montage today recently posted on youtube.com and thought it was a good reminder of what all of us want to see from the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2011 and beyond.
I know we are going to have to give new general manager Kevin Towers time, but he said it himself, he wants to win now. I’m all for it. However you have to have action to back up those words. Maybe if we get [...]

“My style of game hasn’t changed too much from what it’s been in San Jose or what it’s been in Colorado. I’ve been counted on to be a defensive player and to kill penalties and to play against other teams’ top lines…. Washington, I’m excited about playing there, obviously, with a bunch of great talented players and I expect to fit in. I expect to be put in a defensive role there — I don’t think they’ll change that up too much. You like being on a team where you know you can [...]

Every year we start the season the same way, as a Saints fan we dig our heels in and get ready for the first game and every game afterwards because of the electricity and excitement it raises in every fan.
Well this is only the second meeting between the New Orleans Saints and the Cincinnati Bengals since 2006 (Sean Payton era), the first one was held in the New Orleans Superdome in week 11 of the 2006 season during the Saints miracle run for the championship.
The Saints hosted the Bengals in week 11 following a week 10 road loss to the Pittsburg [...]

Former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Webb is drawing a lot of interest all over Major League Baseball. Honestly, it is more interest than I would have expected at this point. Right now, there are no fewer than three teams reportedly with interest.
Chicago Cubs – yeah the loveable losers, especially when it comes to pitching. The Cubs have shown interest. Word is any deal with the Cubs would be incentive laden though. It should be. The Cubs should make all their contracts like that. They might be a better team.
Washington Nationals – interesting for them to be a team [...]

Lance Berkman is meeting with the Oakland Athletics this week. Berkman is a perfect fit for the A’s who need a slugger for their meager lineup. Berkman also fits into Billy Beane’s love for guys with high OBPs who work counts and take pitches. Oaklands fantastic young pitching staff helped them win 81 games last year despite the aforementioned weak offense and a large amount of injuries. While this would be a great fit for the A’s, I’m not sure the same is true for Berkman.
Although Oakland has brought in David Dejesus, another Beane-type guy, the cast that will be put around Berkman [...]

There is a very interesting article on Yahoo Sports regarding Lebron James and his not-so-happy attitude towards head coach Eric Spoelstra. The article begins by explaining how Spoelstra went out and sought advice from previous coaches that have had to deal with Lebron and the message he came back with was simple, in order to succeed he would need to:
End the cycle of enabling with James and hold him accountable.
Right off the bat that line says a lot, but the article goes much deeper. I do not care or care to argue if the article is completely true or not. [...]

DISCUSS THE TRADE IN OUR CAPITALS FORUM
Time to take a roll around the web and see what Media and other bloggers are saying about the Capitals acquisition of Defenseman Scott Hananan in exchange for Tomas Fleischmann. Of course, given we are DC sports site, it will be focused on the Caps acquisition of Hannan.
First off, Scott Burnside and Pierre Lebrun from ESPN.
Burnside;
Both can become unrestricted free agents at the end of the season and both should help their new teams, but the thing that sticks out for me is how much this reminds me of the Tampa Bay [...]

Three weeks ago I wrote that the Giants’ blowout defeat was the “Right Kind of Win” which allowed them to show their domination of the NFC.
Even brilliant people like me can be wrong from time to time.
Given the psyche of this Giants team, a grind-out win against a surging team like the Jaguars should do much more to boost the confidence of this battered team as they head into a tough stretch of games to end the season. Seattle has talent of course, but they are underachievers, and putting up 41 points against such a team did very little to [...]

The Orlando Magic return home to host the Detroit Pistons Tuesday night. The two teams became rivals after Detroit knocked Orlando out of the postseason in three separate seasons (2003, 2007, and 2008). The Magic had a 3-1 series lead against the Pistons in 2003 when former Magic win made the infamous statement about advancing to the second round. The Pistons won the series 4-3.
McGrady is now a member of the Pistons and is averaging just 4.3 points per game. McGrady has been hampered by a leg injury but scored 13 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 3 assists [...]
