Chris Duhon Fitting In, J.J. Redick Finding His Stroke

Written by Andrew Melnick | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Howard the Dunk (Magic)

For years, Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith and the Magic brass have coveted former Duke Point Guard Chris Duhon. When the Magic signed the point guard to a 4-year contract worth around $15million, fans probably expected immediate results from the six-year veteran.
It hasn’t been that easy.
Duhon has struggled to fit in with his new team early in the season; trying to find his role as the backup point guard.
Through 15 games, he’s averaging just 2.8 points and 3.4 assists per game.
At one point, with Jameer Nelson out with an injury, he even lost minutes to Jason Williams down the [...]

O’s shouldn’t focus on Tulowitzki signing

Written by Adam Pendergraph | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Birds Watcher (Orioles)

President Barack Obama and general manager of the Colorado Rockies Dan O’Dowd don’t see eye to eye.
President Obama recently announced a planned two-year salary freeze for all government employees. The following day, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies was awarded a seven-year extension for a total of ten years worth a guaranteed $157.75 million.
The 26-year old All-Star shortstop came off a career year hitting .315 with 27 homers and 95 RBIs despite missing 33 games with a broken wrist. Tulowitzki won the NL Gold Glove and NL Silver Slugger award as well.
Tulowitzki’s ten-year deal is somewhat of a surprise [...]

Tuesday Kitty Litter. Farewell To A Legend.

Written by Frank Rekas | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | The Rat Trick (Panthers)

Not much news to report regarding the Florida Panthers as they beging their west coast road trip tomorrow night against the Mighty Ducks in Anaheim.  Here’s some news items though for you to check out if you already haven’t:
My first link for you is about the funeral for a hockey friend yesterday as Pat Burns was layed to rest in Montreal.  Quite a gathering for the beloved former coach.  TSN.
Then the unconscionable happened as Mrs. Burns had hockey related items stolen from her car.  Looters?  More like f-in idiots.  TSN.

NFL Power Rankings: Chiefs, Chargers On The Move

Written by Patrick Allen | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs), Bolt Beat (Chargers), Just Blog Baby (Raiders), Predominantly Orange (Broncos)

The Kansas City Chiefs are back on track in the ESPN.com Power Rankings, jumping up one spot from last week.
The Chiefs now sit at a respectable #12 in the 32-team rankings as they sit atop the AFC West at 7-4.
Yet they are no longer the highest ranked NFL team.
The San Diego Chargers via their road victory of the Indianapolis Colts leapfrogged the Chiefs, moving from #14 all the way up to #11.
Should Chiefs fans be angry about this given that the Chiefs have already beat the Chargers once this year?
More after the jump.

I’ve heard many TV experts exclaim that the [...]

Jonny Flynn Update

Written by Daniel Damico | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Dunking with Wolves (Twolves), NBA

Jonny Flynn are getting closer to returning to the Wolves and as reported before, Flynn may play a few games with D-League Sioux Falls Skyforce.  Here is the quote from Flynn on the next steps in his recovery; I think that’s the best thing for me. You know, getting the speed back, there are so many little integral things you have to get back from staying away from the game of basketball for four months. You have to get your timing back, figure out the speed of the game again, got to get back to seeing what you can and [...]

Jerry Jones Wants Tashard Choice To Improve On Special Teams

Written by Josh Sanchez | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | NFL, The Landry Hat (Cowboys)

Third-string running back Tashard Choice has not had the type of impact he has wanted this season. The former Georgia Tech star may get his chance to shine this weekend against Indianapolis, but until this point his impact has been minimal.
Many fans have wanted to see more of Choice and did not understand why he hasn’t been on the field, especially since starter Marion Barber has struggled to make any real impact in 2010.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had some comments today on his radio show that may hint towards why Choice has been kept off the field.

“First of all, Tashard [...]

Cubs Will Be Active Over Next Two Weeks

Written by Jordan Campbell | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Cubbies Crib (Cubs), MLB

The next two weeks will go a long way in determining whether or not the Chicago Cubs will be contenders in the 2011 season. Things that are expected to be settled this week are the Cubs new pitching coach, and the deadline to tender all players contracts is on Thursday.
As far as next week, that is when the Winter Meetings take place. At the Winter Meetings, is usually when teams make a lot of deals, and usually we see a lot of trades occur. In recent years, Jim Hendry has been one of the most active General Managers at the [...]

Habs Trade Gomez and Eller for Palushaj and Pacioretty

Written by Rick Keene | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | A Winning Hab-it (Canadiens)

On his goalward mission , he seemed past distraction , outside pain , like a father trapped with his child under the wheels of a car finds a desperate strength to lift that dreadful weight . Such was his need .
Ken Dryden from his book `The Game` – describing Maurice Richard.
Must it come to this  ?
Must we endanger the life of a child in order to provoke some passion , a drive into Scott Gomez ?
I think not .
Sacrifice a panther , a coyote – a penguin ? Throw Chris Higgins under a car . Toss Shane Doan from atop [...]

DeSean Jackson on Relationship With Reid: We’re Good

Written by Ryan Messick | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Inside the Iggles (Eagles)

“Yeah, we good,” DeSean Jackson said when asked if he and head coach Andy Reid were on good terms after numerous reports said that Reid had singled Jackson out in front of the team after Sunday’s 31-26 loss in Chicago.
As for what Reid said? Jackson is following his coach’s M.O.
“I’m not here to talk about any of that,” Jackson said. “What we talk about in the locker room is between the team.

“We just want to win games, man, that’s what I’m here for: to go out there and be successful and win football games. As far as anything else, I could [...]

North Carolina Tar Heels vs. Illinois Fighting Illini Basketball Preview

Written by chrismaynard | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Writing Illini (Illinois)

If I only had the time to write up a full preview of tonight’s UNC-Illinois basketball game, but the end of the semester is dropping a massive shoulder into me like Sean May did to the Illini in the 2005 National Championship.

With this in mind, Writing Illini gives you this UNC-Illini preview from my former back-court mate in grammar school, onetime roommate and longtime friend Jeff Bartl, who writes for STATS and heads up FanSided’s Chicago Blackhawks blog, BlackhawkUp.

As for tonight’s game, I’m feeling very confident, given Illinois’ mature performance at Western Michigan on Saturday and Carolina’s early-season struggles.

While it won’t be easy, expect the Illini to pull away late for a double-digit victory.

So far, I’m a perfect 7-0 on my Illinois basketball non-conference predictions from back in August, so let’s keep the streak going with a win tonight and a Saturday victory against Gonzaga in Seattle.

And then we’ll worry about a possible letdown against Oakland.

Westbrook Steps Up, Takes Down Hornets

Written by Casey Case | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | NBA, Thunderous Intentions (Thunder)

What a great comeback win last night! Westbrook is the man! Usually when you think Thunder, you think Durant. Now, people are really starting to talk about Westbrook, including his teammates. KD has this to say last night, “The last three games he’s been doing that [stepping it up offensively at the end of the game]. Me and Jeff, our shots haven’t been falling at all. I pulled him to the side and said, ‘I’m going to do what I do on defense and if you see an opening, just go.’ He did a great job of that. He hit [...]

Giants Fans or Foes

Written by Travis Taylor | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | G-MEN H.Q. (Giants)

After the first thirty minutes of football this past Sunday at the New Meadowlands Stadium, the Giants marched to the beat of the boo birds to the locker room for half time.  The crowd’s reaction was well deserved after witnessing their team play a half of uninspired football in a “must win” game.  The Giants had allowed Maurice Jones Drew, Rashad Jennings, and David Gerrard to run for more yards in the first half than they had allowed in an entire game this season.  With that being said, the game against the Jaguars was extremely hard to watch and looked [...]

Holiday Season Charity Drive

Written by Kim Constantinesco | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | FanSided, Predominantly Orange (Broncos)

In the grand scheme of things, there’s much more to life than Denver Broncos’ football.
Everyone will face a challenging experience whether we want to acknowledge its inevitability or not. You lose your job, the doctor calls to say that he needs to discuss the test results in person, your spouse decides to leave. Whatever the situation, we are only prepared and ready to deal with it if we were taught how to cope and be resourceful from a young age.
That’s why the Fansided Network is teaming up with Site5 (our outstanding hosting company) for a Holiday Season Charity Drive to benefit the Boys [...]
