Blogger Interrogation: Testudo Times On Maryland, Rivals, and Taran Buie

Written by Ben | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Victory Bell Rings (Penn State)

During this whole “Internet battle” between Maryland and Penn State fans, we decided to corner the face of Maryland blogs in the alley of some abandoned Internet hallway and see what is really on their mind. Turns out, people from Maryland are real people too. Not that it’s honestly a surprise to anyone, but it’s always nice to know the invisible lines between states do not actually dictate a change in species.
Anyway,Ben Broman from Testudo Times  took some time to answer a few questions Penn Staters have going into this weeks matchup against Maryland and how they view this game [...]

NFL Game of the Week Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills

Written by jessez | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | BuffaLowdown (Bills), NFL Mocks, Nice Pick, Cowher (Steelers), Other Blogs

In what could have been a breakout game for the Buffalo Bills and WR Stevie Johnson turned out to be a knife in the heart of the Bills faithful. The Bills hosted the supremely talented Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday in what the Steelers presumed to be a walkover game for the AFC North Division leaders. And they had every reason to think so as the Steelers have been one of the NFL’s most dominate teams and the Bills had a 2-8 record till  that. But as many other opponents of the Bills have done, they over looked them and found themselves [...]

5 Facts Concerning This Team

Written by Riley Moore | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | 12th Man Rising (Seahawks), NFL, Phin Phanatic (Dolphins)

I am absolutely speechless.
I feel like I keep getting taken in by this team. They do just enough to give me hope, and then they tear it away from me again. You’d think we would know better as Seahawks fans.
Here are the Facts:
1. This is only year 1 of a rebuilding process. This is the year that the Seahawks do the best with what they have. A bunch of patchwork players, a few rookies with great potential, and a couple of aging veterans with a little left in the tank. Is it all that much different than Holmgren’s first year [...]

Kings Just Aren’t Good Enough

Written by Gavin Humes | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Rink Royalty (Kings)

Four goals in four games. The Kings have gone from 1st in the Conference to last in their Division almost over night. The brutal truth of it is that the Kings have just not played well enough to maintain any sort of success over the long haul. Perhaps the only bright side to this early season is that the incredibly strong start, which remains the only reason the Kings are not painfully outside of the playoff picture already. Sitting at the bottom of the Pacific Division isn’t exactly where they were hoping to be, but going 1-7 over the past [...]

Handling the struggling Milwaukee Bucks in Salt Lake City last night, Utah won its sixth straight game, which currently matches the Dallas Mavericks for the longest streak in the league.

Here is a look at another impressive night from former Illini point guard Deron Williams, with a picture coming later.

Vikings vice president of public affairs Lester Bagley today participated in a chat on the team’s official site, and updated Viking Nation on the status of the team’s stadium efforts.  During said chat session Bagley revealed that two separate Los Angeles groups have approached the team about the possibility of relocating the Vikings to the L.A. area.  Bagley said the Vikings are not currently looking at relocation, but are intent on getting a new stadium built in Minnesota.
“Clearly, the Vikings stadium issue is being followed nationally and it’s no secret that we’re down to the last year on [...]

Ron Artest Still Lost in the Triangle

Written by Chris Shellcroft | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Lake Show Life (Lakers)

Phil Jackson is well known for his attachment to the Triangle Offense and Ron Artest is becoming famous for being lost in it. For Ron, it might as well be the Bermuda Triangle Offense. Picking up right where he left off in the playoffs, Ron looks as clueless on the court as Erik Spoelstra does on the sideline.
This past Sunday, Ron’s reluctance resurfaced as he gave up an open look in the corner and instead passed up the opportunity to try and tie the game. While that doesn’t illustrate his offensive confusion his declining numbers sure do. Offensively, Ron Ron [...]

I Don’t Not Hate the Red Wings Forever

Written by S.M. Williams | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Blades of Teal (Sharks), NHL

The San Jose Sharks face off against the Detroit Red Wings tonight, and I confess that this is an opponent that occupies a complex part of my heart. Although the hatred steeps in high concentration during the year, and especially during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Red Wings are a team that also garners a bit of warm nostalgia for me. In the time before the NHL came to San Jose, I would spend a couple weeks or so each year at my Grandparent’s house in Michigan. My Dad’s family was from a little Norman Rockwellian town called Northville, located about a half hour outside Detroit and firmly in automaker country.

Capitals trade Fleischmann to Avs for Scott Hannan

Written by Spence | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | DC Pro Sports Report (Capitals), NHL

The rumored trade of Washington Capitals forward Tomas Fleischmann has happened. The Caps sent Fleisch to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Scott Hannan, a 31-year-old veteran of 775 NHL games, second only to Thomas Poti on the Caps roster. Capitals General Manager George McPhee is enthusiastic about the trade:
“He’s at the point in his career where he’s been in the league a long time and wants to win a [Stanley] Cup, and I think it completes our defense,” McPhee said. “We’re really happy with the way our defense has been playing, but to add one more guy like [...]

Hiller’s Right Handed Robbery Is Absolutely Glovely!

Written by Susan s-k Lee | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Ducks Daily Blog (Ducks), NHL

You can see the save here.

Aahh, there’s nothing quite like the satisfying afterglow following a win over the Kings when we Anaheim fans can say “siddown and shaddup!” to those annoying and verbally stunted Los Angelinians (“Ducks Suck!” is the best they can come up with? Lame).
Jonas Hiller shed his lethargy, rose to the occasion and shut down the Kings with great élan.  His right handed robbery of Anze Kopitar was truly a thing of beauty and Cam Fowler’s second career goal brought the sell-out crowd to their giddily raucous feet.
The Parros/Westgarth brawl did not materialize (Georgie probably didn’t want [...]

Who wants it more?

Written by tommyjohnson | November 30, 2010 | Comments Off | Riggos Rag (Redskins)

Every year the NFL playoffs host a interesting story. Wither its the underdog making a rise, or a team fighting threw adversity. These are the type of stories that live on forever. Nobody has forgotten the 2007 Redskins amazing playoff push, in witch the team overcame the tragic loss of Sean Taylor to go on a win streak with an unlikely 2nd string quarterback named Todd Collins. These are the kind of games that inspire fans and give us hope. Now the next five games will be no easy task for the Redskins, but as oddly as it sounds this team [...]
