Todays music video is a live performance by the band Of Montreal, singing An Eluardian Instance. The group ironically is from Athens, Georgia.
Tonight the Montreal Canadiens and old friend Uncle Jack will visit the Bank Atlantic Center in front of what looks to be another sellout crowd against the Florida Panthers. A New Years eve match that begins at 5:00 P.M. The Habs will be playing the last game of a seven game road trip which hasn’t gone well for them at all, as they have lost five of six on the trip, including three in a row. Their latest [...]
Raiders Have Much More to Play For Than Pride
Written by Chris Shellcroft | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs), Just Blog Baby (Raiders)
It was supposed to the AFC West Super Bowl. Four weeks ago the Raiders-Chiefs finale was shaping up to be a rivalry for all the marbles. This was supposed to be a winner-take-all duel with more than bragging rights at stake.
Well, it is still a duel with bragging rights on the line. Too bad for the Raiders the Chiefs have already claimed the crown and the playoff birth that comes with it. Still, there is much more to play for than pride in Arrowhead on Sunday.
Tom Cable has proven himself to be the best coach in the East Bay since [...]
The Daily Phil Esposito
Written by Brandon Spinner | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Blackhawk Up (Blackhawks)
There were 14 former featherheads which took the ice last night and of the 10 skaters there was only one point which was an assist. It came from a guy some people call Big Buff who is having a career season. The three goalies in action tonight all picked up W’s including the first of the year in the return game for the goalie we beat in the Stanley Cup finals last year. Oh and David Koci is still gaining on Duncan Keith in Ice Time per game. Just a couple more seconds and he might be within 26 minutes. Enjoy

Zach Miner Signs with Royals
Written by John Parent | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Motor City Bengals (Tigers)
Another month passes and another long reliever leaves the Tigers. MLBTR passed along today that the Kansas City Royals have signed now former Tiger Zach Miner to a minor league contract. Miner missed all of 2010 with a elbow injury, which lead to Tommy John surgery, and was designated for assignment soon after the season ended.
The Tigers had talks about bringing him back on a deal similar to the one he landed with Kansas City, but my guess is that he ultimately decided he’d have a better chance to return to a starting role with the Royals.
From the Tigers [...]
Link: 10 Young Padres that could be Headed for a Breakout Year

Clipped from: isportsweb.com (share this clip) 7. Cory Luebke (SP) Baseball America’s 6th rated Padres prospect going into last season Luebke certainly lived up to that billing, even surpassing that ranking. Between AA and AAA in 2010 Luebke went 10-1 with a 2.68 ERA, he had 29 walks against 88 strikeouts in the minor leagues. Cory also performed admirably for the big club down the stretch going 1-1 with a 4.08 ERA in 17.2 big league innings pitched. It appears at this point that Luebke will start the season at AAA, but he will almost certainly pitch in the big [...]
What a Year
Written by ericwvu | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Hail WV (West Virginia)
Well, this has surely been an interesting year in WVU sports. The womens basketball team is on a roll, ranked 6th in the nation. The mens basketball team is struggling but still on their way to a good season. Then theres football…where do I start? I won’t go into detail about Coach Stewart’s record because almost everyone is aware of it already. I have liked Coach Stewart from day 1 when he lead the team to an amazing victory over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. He was there for the WVU football program when nobody else was. I can’t think of anyone else [...]

Detroit Lions 2010 in Review: January
Written by Zac Snyder | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | SideLion Report (Lions)
The final chapter of the book that was the 2009 Detroit Lions was written on January 3, 2010 when they closed out the season with a home game against the Chicago Bears. An announced crowd of 56,677 saw another disappointing season come to a close with a 37-23 loss.
In what would come to be a familiar theme into 2010, the Lions were able to tie the game at 20 in the fourth quarter before falling off the pace and allowing the Bears to pull away.
Daunte Culpepper was the starting quarterback that day. It feels like a lot more than a [...]
Blogger Exchange Program: Q&A with Packers Blogger
Written by Boomer | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Bear Goggles (Bears)
We try to get some outside perspective of our upcoming opponents and this week, Melinda Banks from FanSided’s own Lombardi Ave took time for a little Q&A session about the regular season finale between the Bears and Packers. I answered some questions for her too. You can read my Q&A here.
BearGogglesOn: The Packers have been decimated by injuries this season. Which injury has been the biggest loss? If that player had not been injured, how much different could the Packers’ record be?
Lombardi Ave: Without a doubt our RB Ryan Grant. We’ve been searching for ways to create a running game [...]
Reds Interested In Edgar Renteria Now?
Written by Bryan | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Frisco Fastball (Giants)
Current Reds GM Walt Jocketty (and former Cardinals GM during Renteria’s Red Bird tenure) admitted to the Cincinnati Enquirer yesterday that he has indeed spoken to the World Series MVP about coming to play for the NL Central Champions. Shortstop is one of the few holes the Reds do have, so, the move makes sense for both parties assuming the money is right as Renteria would have at least a decent chance at overtaking current SS Paul Janish as opposed to potentially platooning with Miguel Tejada in San Francisco.
At this point, I’m pretty much over the whole Renteria-gate situation. He’s [...]
The New York Giants vs Washington Redskins: Game Analysis Or Season Breakdown?
Written by Sean Kerr | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | G-MEN H.Q. (Giants)
The last of the regular season games is upon us folks. 2010 has been a tumultuous journey for the New York Giants to say the least. We’ve had our ups – some glorious ups and we’ve had our downs. Boy, were there downs! But we’re not done yet Giants fans!
The Giants’ playoff hopes are alive and well, despite a multitude of missed opportunities. It is going to require a tremendous performance by the Chicago Bears to shoot us into the race for the Lombardi Trophy. Oh yeah, it is also going to take a Big Blue victory over the Washington [...]
A Cheaper Alternative To Brandon Webb?
Written by Tom Smith | December 31, 2010 | Comments Off | Rum Bunter (Pirates)
Bartolo Colon is apparently lean once again. While we can’t confirm he is mean, one thing is certain. He is hungry for a job in Major League Baseball again. If Colon will accept a minor league deal why wouldn’t a team like the Pittsburgh Pirates give him a shot?
The Pittsburgh Pirates are handing out non-roster invites like an 18-year bride-to-be sends out wedding invites. So we were trying to think of the down side to giving an invitation to Bartolo Colon?
A few weeks back the Pirates were said to have interest in the big right-hander as the article below discussed.

TCS 2010 Story of the Year: The Disinherited: Edwin Valero 1981-2010
