Indians Own TV Network Doesn’t Show Every Game?
Written by Steve Kubitza | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Wahoo's on First (Indians)
SportsTime Ohio was seen as a new, great way for Indians fans to watch their team. It would be Indians baseball 24/7 with games and analysis around the clock. The network has gone in a different direction since its inception in 2006. Looking at the Indians schedule this year I noticed something that angered me. Many of the Indians Wednesday and Thursday afternoon games aren’t on STO. The first one is May 12th against the Rays. As I looked through the schedule I noticed that there are a total of 7 games that will not be broadcasted on STO. Two [...]
Will Flames Play Let’s Make A Deal?
Written by Jeremy Wiebe | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Flame for Thought (Flames)
With the NHL trade deadline a month way, Calgary Flames General Manager Jay Feaster may be trying out his best Monty Hall impersonation. There have been many trade rumours surrounding the Flames throughout the season. Some have been far-fetched, others may have been close to reality. With that in mind let’s take a look at some of the players the Flames may move out of Calgary. Jarome Iginla: The captain and heart and soul of the franchise, Iginla got off to a slow start which led to whispers that he was about to be moved out of Calgary. However, after [...]
Cardinals Excited About Righty Miller’s Progress
Written by Dan Kienzle | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Redbird Rants (Cardinals)
In preparation for the 2011 season, MLB.com recently announced their picks for the preseason Top 50 Prospects list. Breaking into the list for the first time was Shelby Miller, RHP for the Cardinals. Miller came in at the number 20 spot overall, ranked number seven among right-handed pitchers. It is encouraging to see the Cardinals farm system receive this kind of recognition. The Cardinals did not have any prospects on the list last year. The last time that they had someone from their farm system on the list, they had two, Colby Rasmus and Brett Wallace. Rasmus was ranked 10th on the [...]
Can Texas Be Trusted?
Written by Justin Malaise | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | We're Bucked (Bucks)
When can Texas be trusted in College Basketball this year? They are very talented, as always has been the case under Rick Barnes. But under Barnes tenure they only have one final four appearance and were dominated by Carmelo Anthony and Syracuse in that one final four game. But this year they are winning games at Kansas, at Oklahoma State, hosting Missouri on a Saturday night when everyone is ready for a letdown. These were three wins in a row that in the past would have been one or two losses. Tonight they travel to Texas A&M, a team they [...]

Broncos’ Backfield Needs DeAngelo Williams
Written by Kim Constantinesco | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Predominantly Orange (Broncos)
The Broncos running game - It gives more headaches than cheap Tequila. The Broncos finished the 2010 season 26th in the rushing department averaging 96.5 yards per game and they were 3rd in fumbles lost. Because the team couldn’t establish the run game, they were faced with a lot of third and longs, and an inability to turn red zone appearances into touchdowns. In the final three games of the season, Tim Tebow was the rushing star for the team. In fact, if it wasn’t for him, the Broncos would have finished the season ranked much lower than 26th. In the games that Tebow [...]
What Is The Internet?
Written by Patrick Allen | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)
Today on the internet a couple of videos have been making the rounds that feature folks figuring out just what the internet was in t\he early days of the internet. Today we spend a great deal of our lives connecting with each other via the internet so it is kind of funny to think that not long ago people didn’t even know what the heck it was. The video below will kind of blow your mind and what I really find interesting about it is that you hear the guy mention the sports as one of the things he likes [...]
The Rundown: January 31, 2010
Written by Chase Ruttig | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Raptors Rapture (Raptors)
It is Monday, forget about school and work and sit back with some NBA action. On to the Rundown Toronto at Indiana (7:00 PM) Toronto looks to end their losing streak, Indiana looks to move on without Jim O’Brien at the helm. Should be an interesting game. Why You Should Watch: This may actually be the night Toronto end the losing streak, which means they won’t try and end up losing by twenty. Denver at New Jersey (7:00 PM) Melo heads to the team he was “supposed” to end up with. Don’t worry the announcers will remind you of this [...]
Gortat the Conqueror, Zabian Fever, and Frye’s Folly
Written by Andrew Lynch | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Sun-N-Gun (Suns)
Thoughts on Marcin Gortawesome, Zabian Dowdell’s rematch with Chris Paul, and Channing Frye learning from Kevin Garnett. Marcin the Barbarian was kept on the bench for the first 7 minutes of the Suns’ victory over the Hornets on Sunday night by a solid start from the Brother Fropez – Robin Lopez had 6 points, 5 rebounds, and only 1 turnover as the Suns opened the game on a 13-4 run. When Gortat checked in, he quickly picked up 2 fouls, forcing him back to the bench and Gentry to go with a smaller lineup with Frye at the pivot. Gortat [...]
Johnson, Towles Back for 2011
Written by Evan | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Climbing Tal's Hill (Astros)
Major league contracts are a curious business. The Houston Astros have agreed to one year contracts with two different players, each will make $424,000 in 2011. The first: 3B Chris Johnson. In Johnson’s rookie 2010 campaign, he put up an OPS+ of 123 and a line of .308/.337/.481. He led all rookies in BA who had at least 300 at-bats. His 11 homeruns and 52 RBI were a lone bright spot for last seasons’ Astros. Johnson has established himself as a building block for Houston and will enter 2011 as the Astros starting 3B. The second: Catcher J.R. Towles. Towles [...]
Just Win, Baby
Written by Kevin Scobee | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Kings of Kauffman (Royals)
Baseball America has said it. Keith Law has said it. I’m pretty sure at this point there is no one in the known universe that doesn’t think the Royals have the best minor league system in all of baseball. But for as much attention as the Royals scouting department gets over the next 6 to 12 to 18 months, we must also temper these warm-and-fuzzies of amateur acquiring greatness with a very simple characteristic that has still eluded Dayton Moore’s regime: wins. Now that isn’t to say that it has been easy for Moore since he took over what was [...]
Orlando Magic @ Memphis Grizzlies
Written by Andrew Melnick | January 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Howard the Dunk (Magic)
The Orlando Magic will look to win their second straight game when they take on the Memphis Grizzlies Monday night. The Magic are coming off a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in which they didn’t play particularly well. The win improved the Magic to 31-17, good for fourth in the Eastern conference. The Grizzlies 107-93 victory over the Washington Wizards Saturday was fifth win in six games, improving their record to 24-24. Since they play in the Western conference, they’re still 1.5 games behind the Portland Trail Blazers for the eighth seed. The Grizzlies are 15th in pace (92.4), 17th [...]
