Dez Bryant Lacks Financial Accounting Skills – Anyone Surprised?

Written by Joe D. Ramirez | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | The Landry Hat (Cowboys)

Dez Bryant is a victim of a lack of football.  A single game hasn’t been missed, but the public grows weary of reports regarding the collective bargaining agreement, the dissolution of the NFL players union, and upcoming court dates.  Outside of the draft, Bryant’s financial indiscretions during one of the worst recessions in American History resonate with masses.  Unfortunately, they resonate negatively. Bryant is the product of a father who was a pimp and teenage mother who had three children by the time she turned 18.  Bryant was not raised in an affluent setting.  His mother is a reported drug user and [...]

Written by Brandon Spinner | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Blackhawk Up (Blackhawks)

Photo: http://trianglesports.wordpress.com/ There were seven former Blackhawks to take the ice last night. They were all skaters and the four points they produced were all assists which came in the same game. There was a big game that affected the Western Standings which was the Ducks vs. the Flames, and there was also a humongous blowout. Read ahead for the details on how those two games affect the Blackhawks. Click the jump for updates from the 3/30/11 games Travis Moen – Montreal 12:12 TOI, minus one Brent Sopel – Montreal 15:16 TOI, minus two, two shots I hope the ‘Hawks [...]

A’s Look To Score More Runs In 2011

Written by Joseph Lopez | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Swingin' A's (Athletics)

Last season, the Oakland A’s faded out of the American League West picture by September largely because of their offense’s inability to score runs. The A’s ranked 23rd in the majors with just 663 runs, 17th in batting average with a .256 team mark, and 26th in slugging percent with the team slugging just .378. The team placed second in the division at 81-81, and finished 9.0 games behind the eventual AL Pennant winners Texas Rangers. This season,  however, the A’s are banking on their revamped offense to score more runs. General Manager Billy Beane and the rest of the [...]

Zeller Reflects on All-American Game

Written by iufan24 | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Hoosier State of Mind (Indiana)

Zeller finished yesterday’s McDonald’s All-American game with 10 points, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. Zeller was pretty active early on and did a good job distributing the ball to cutters and open guards. Zeller admitted days leading up to th…

Ashton Eaton to compete at Cal Poly Invitational

Written by Kevin Liao | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Spiked Up, Pysched Up (Track)

Heptathlon world record holder Ashton Eaton will compete at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif. this weekend.  Eaton will participate in the javelin, high jump, and shot put as he continues to work on the varying elements of the decathlon.  He will also be hosting an exhibition discus event on Friday afternoon prior to the main portion of the meet on Saturday. The decision to make the trip to SLO may be related to the history of his coach Harry Marra.  Marra was very involved with the track and field community in California’s Central Coast region, where [...]

The Redskins NFL Draft splurge: If you could, you would….

Written by Ryan John Estorninos | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Riggos Rag (Redskins)

The Redskins are not in any position this year to take a skill position player to help bolster any type of defensive or offensive fireworks.  I’ve recently changed my tune to the defensive line and away from the quarterback, but that doesn’t mean the Redskins wouldn’t get either. But if they could, who would you take? Here are two I feel would be fun to explore the possibility of wearing Burgundy and Gold. Julio Jones Many say he is a lock to go to the Skins.  I am not so convinced, but if we did get him…thanks to Walter Football [...]

Da Costa Signs With Ottawa

Written by Fetch | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | The College Hockey Blog

After just two years at Merrimack, Stephane Da Costa is leaving to sign a free agent deal with the Ottawa Senators. Da Costa was tied for 3rd on the team in goals and led the Warriors with 45 points. He also led the team in points as a Freshman. He was second in Hockey East in points per game this year, and was fourth as a Freshman. Last year Da Costa became Merrimack’s first ever national Freshman of the year (and he was mine as well), and he will become the first Warrior to play in the NHL in almost [...]

Ray Emery’s Inspirational Re-Emergence

Written by Jared Crozier | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | SenShot (Senators)

Who would have thought when the Ottawa Senators bought out Ray Emery following the 2007-08 season, that the roller coaster ride that was Ray Emery’s career was just getting started? THE SENATORS YEARS You all know the story.  Emery was the first home-grown goalie to make an impact in a Senators uniform.  He came in with a swagger and attitude that exuded confidence.  He was forced into duty late in the 2006 season after Dominik Hasek‘s adductor injury forced him out of the lineup from the Olympic break onwards.  Emery gained kudos for stepping in and performing admirably in the [...]

Chiefs Outside Linebacker Draft Prospects

Written by Merlin | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

This week, Adam and I are going to continue our deep dive on positions the Chiefs may look at high in the draft. Adam will be covering the quarterbacks. I will be tackling the outside linebackers. There is a lot of variety of opinion out there regarding the Chiefs needs for an outside linebacker. Some folks expect the Chiefs to draft an outside linebacker in round one. Others see it as a lesser need. The difference comes down to how you evaluate Andy Studebaker. If you believe that Studebaker is a passable outside linebacker, you downgrade the need. If you [...]

Thrasher Bashing On Tap Tonight

Written by Eugene Markman | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Broad Street Buzz (Flyers)

After blowing the 3-0, third period lead, and losing in overtime, we play Atlanta again.  Anybody really remember that game? Nope, didn’t think so. We won, but we didn’t destroy. Tonight, we look for some real revenge.Thrasher Backer begs the question, “Over it yet Philly?” I think no! We went something like 10 years without losing to Atlanta, until last season.  All of a sudden, they got on their high horse and started fighting back. Tonight, it’s time to end all of that. Mathematically, the Thrashers still hold out hope to make the playoffs. A regulation loss destroys that dream. [...]

Rhines, Wurth-Thomas lead Carlsbad 5000 fields

Written by Kevin Liao | March 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Spiked Up, Pysched Up (Track)

Three-time Olympian Jen Rhines and leading U.S. 1500 meter runner Christin Wurth-Thomas are the top two American names entered into Sunday’s 26th annual Carlsbad 5000. Dubbed “World’s Fastest 5k,” the road race run just north of San Diego is famous for blazing fast times including the world and American records for women.  Meseret Defar broke the world mark in 2006 with a time of 14:46 while Deena Kastor ran the American record of 14:54 back in 2002. Rhines, second in the 5000 meters at the Stanford Invitational last weekend, is using the race as further preparation for the track season [...]
