Heptathlon world record holder Ashton Eaton will compete at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif. this weekend. Eaton will participate in the javelin, high jump, and shot put as he continues to work on the varying elements of the decathlon. After just two years at Merrimack, Stephane Da Costa is leaving to sign a free agent deal with the Ottawa Senators. Da Costa was tied for 3rd on the team in goals and led the Warriors with 45 points. Three-time Olympian Jen Rhines and leading U.S. 1500 meter runner Christin Wurth-Thomas are the top two American names entered into Sunday’s 26th annual Carlsbad 5000. Dubbed “World’s Fastest 5k,” the road race run just north of San Diego is famous for blazing fast times including the world and American records for women.
