The Remote Report: Being a Browns Fan is Being Part of a Fraternity

Written by Kevin Nye | September 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Dawg Pound Daily (Browns)

Fans of every team claim to be the best. They claim to be a family and they claim to have the biggest following of any group of sports fans. We all know that they can’t all be correct. I’m not saying that Cleveland Browns fans are different than other fiercely loyal fans, I’m just saying that I know how we are, so we can’t waste our time worrying about the rest. As evidenced by the “remote” part of the title of this column, I am not in Cleveland anymore. Being in Chicago and following a team whose home is not [...]

Get Your Gamble On: Eagles vs. 49ers Betting Preview

Written by bforreal | September 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Inside the Iggles (Eagles)

Welp, last week sucked.  It’s no secret that I was way off on my expectation that the Eagles would not only win, but cover the 9.5 point spread in convincing fashion.   That brings my Eagles betting record to a completely mediore 1-1-1 through three games so far. With the 49ers in town this week, it is a good opportunity for the Eagles to rebound against a less-than-good opponent.  Although the 49ers are 2-1 so far, they have faced some weak opponents and their record doesn’t accurately reflect the level of talent in San Francisco.  I believe the 49ers are the beneficiaries [...]

0-3 Records Aside, This Game Is A Mismatch

Written by Andrew Crocker | September 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Arrowhead Addict (Chiefs)

Somewhere deep in the bowels of One Arrowhead Drive, Todd Haley, Bill Muir, and Romeo Crennel are sweating bullets.  They have a whiteboard that is now stained with a thousand erased marker traces that have left faded residue behind as the X’s and O’s continue to befuddle any gameplan these three might be trying to cook up.  It’s September 30th.  And in two days, a troop of very unpleasant visitors is coming to Arrowhead, and they’re wearing purple. Few people understand how difficult this game is going to be for the Kansas City Chiefs.  But Haley, Muir, and Crennel better know [...]

Oregon St. @ Arizona St.

Written by osbeaver | September 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Beaver Byte (Oregon State)

I believe this game won’t be as close as we hope.   I see Arizona St taking a 21-7 lead by the end of the first half with 21-3 like we saw against UCLA also possible.   I don’t believe our team is putting together the whole mental framework to compete for wins yet.  Part of this is on Riley for talking too much about trying to improve in some aspects of the game instead of more confidently stating he likes his team chances if they play 4 quarters and follow the game plan.  The other key is that our defense isn’t [...]

Andrew Bogut Gets FIBA Insurance Approval

Written by K L Chouinard | September 30, 2011 | Comments Off | We're Bucked (Bucks)

Andrew Bogut has obtained an initial insurance policy proposal from FIBA, making it more likely that he will play in the National Basketball League (NBL) of his native Australia.  A decision on whether or not Bogut goes into action — as well as the team for whom he will toil — could come in the next few days. Bogut today wrote this rather cryptic message on Twitter: … [visit site to read more]

Central Division Preview. Chicago Rested And Ready For Another Cup.

Written by Frank Rekas | September 30, 2011 | Comments Off | The Rat Trick (Panthers)

Hawks are primed for another Stanley Cup Run. Source: NHL.com The Central Division of the Western Conference consists of five teams that all have playoff potential for this year, however it’s very doubtful that each team lands in the top eight.  This division is made up of two original six teams (Chicago and Detroit) and three teams (St. Louis, Nashville, and Columbus) that are all slowly beginning to despise each other.  One of the more talented divisions in the conference, each team boasts at least 2 if not more bonafide stars which make each matchup thrilling to watch. The [...]

Links at Lunch: Madison Painted Red; Bama-UF Lock Up in SEC Showcase; There’s No D in USF

Written by Kyle Kensing | September 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Saturday Blitz (College Football)

Bucky Badger better stop scouring Facebook for pool shots of oh-so fine Wilma Wildcat (presumably lounging on a Sunday afternoon at The Standard on Stone), and get ready for Saturday’s big showdown. Anticipation of Nebraska vs. Wisconsin is reaching a fever pitch. Wisconsin is being painted, uh…a different shade of red? as Cornhusker fans invade the town writes Sam Zastrow at Bucky’s 5th Quarter. Our friends at HuskerLocker.com were supposed to appear on the SaturdayBlitz.com Podcast, but because of this blogger’s own domestic issues that fell through. However, you can still get their insight on Nebraska vs. Wisconsin via the [...]
