Trick or Treat: Milwaukee Brewers

Written by Steve Engbloom | October 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Blog Red Machine (Reds)

Last evening was beggar’s night in my neighborhood. It never fails that I can never predict the turnout as far as the number of kids that trod up to the front door to utter those three words…”Trick or treat”. You can either almost or completely run out of candy (and wear that stigma for a whole year) or you have so much candy left over that if you eat it all, your stomach hurts for days. Well, the NL Central teams played some trick or treat with us for the 2011 season. Continuing on that, here’s the Brewers… … [visit [...]

Ventura Finalizes Coaching Staff

Written by Travis Miller | October 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Southside Showdown (White Sox)

With the dust settled from Ozzie Guillen’s departure and his coaching staff having chosen their sides, new manager Robin Ventura’s entourage has taken shape. Leftovers from the Ozzie era are pitching coach Don Cooper, who received a four-year extension upon Ozzie’s departure, first-base coach Harold Baines, bullpen coach Juan Nieves and assistant hitting coach Mike Gellinger. Ventura’s right-hand man will be Philadelphia Phillies Double-A manager Mark Parent, who was named “Best Manager Prospect” by Baseball America. He takes over as bench coach where Joey Cora served under Ozzie. The team’s new third-base coach is Joe McEwing, who managed Triple-A Charlotte [...]

Cleveland Browns Offense Continues to Be a Horror Show

Written by Steve DiMatteo | October 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Dawg Pound Daily (Browns)

You would be forgiven for thinking that the Cleveland Browns offense has been celebrating Halloween all season, as it remains a truly terrifying display week after week. After Sunday’s 20-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the disturbing trend of ineffective, bland offensive showings by the offense (in keeping with the tradition of previous seasons, which is a nightmare all its own), the Browns are in need of some major retooling. After Sunday’s game, the Browns now sit with the 28th overall offense in the NFL, ahead of the likes of the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis Rams, and [...]

Tashard Choice Is Not Claimed By the Lions

Written by Ronny Hurd | October 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Detroit Jock City (Detroit)

(Picture courtesy of The Landry Hat) Tashard Choice was claimed by a team and it wasn’t the Lions. It was actually the Washington Redskins, according to Adam Schefter. A lot of Lions fans were hoping that the team would take a chance in claiming Choice with Jahvid Best still out with the second concussion of the year. But what those fans should realize is the depth that the Lions already have at running back. Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams have filled in quite nicely for Best. Morris rushed for 59 yards, and had his first rushing touchdown of the season in Sunday’s [...]

Orioles A-Z: Mike Boddicker

Written by Lauren Tilley | October 31, 2011 | Comments Off | Birds Watcher (Orioles)

Note: Orioles A-Z is a recurring series in which I profile a past player in the Orioles organization that had an impact on the team, whether it be good or bad. It is done alphabetically by last name. I’m going to be talking about the player’s background, how he got to the team, what he did while they were on the team, how he left, and what he’s doing now. Mike Boddicker; Courtesy of: The Baltimore Sun Background: He was born on August 23, 1957 in probably the most boring town in the United States: Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was [...]
