Written by Kim Constantinesco | November 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Predominantly Orange (Broncos)

Jared Allen has always been a pass rushing force. (Hannah Foslien/Getty Images) Von Miller has made himself one of the ultimate pass rushers in the league as a rookie. He’s third in the NFL in sacks with 11 takedowns on the season. The guy one spot above Miller is none other than 8-year veteran Jared Allen, who the Broncos will face this week in Minnesota. Allen has 14 sacks on the season. In six of his eight years in the NFL, he’s had at least 10 sacks. His best year came in ’07-’08 when he was with the Chiefs and [...]

Nene’s Price Too High For Rockets

Written by madness | November 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Nugg Love (Nuggets)

Wednesday was the first day NBA teams could talk to free agents and the Houston Rockets wasted no time in contacting Nuggets’ big man Nene. According to Fox 26 Sports, based out of Houston, the Rockets contacted both Nene and their own free agent Chuck Hayes. The Rockets are one of the teams that is in the Nene sweepstakes, but there is a lot pessimism out of Houston that the Rockets would land Nene – partly due to his asking price. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle suggested that while Nene is the Rockets’ Plan A, they aren’t going to [...]

Tigers Re-sign Ramon Santiago

Written by Ronny Hurd | November 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Detroit Jock City (Detroit)

The Tigers have re-signed second baseman Ramon Santiago to a two year deal, according to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports. Danny Knobler: “Tigers announce they’ve re-signed Ramon Santiago. Two-year deal” This obviously means that the Tigers are done searching for a second baseman as of now, and are likely to platoon second base with Santiago and Ryan Raburn. This signing may also indicate that the Tigers may have shifted their attention to improving third base since they are unlikely to platoon two positions in the infield. Like what you see? My Fantasy World: November 2011

Written by Paige Lewis | November 30, 2011 | Comments Off | The Rat Trick (Panthers)

With another month of hockey in the books, comes another month of my fantasy breakdown. I must say that last month’s Top 12 fantasy players were quite the shock (well, most of them). But it seems as if the month of November has seen the most surprising players in the most shocking top spots. Last month I used Yahoo Fantasy Sports to determine the top players from each fantasy position, then divided it into two teams. This month, I decided to use CBSsports.com’s fantasy ratings. (The points are determined from the last 28 days, counting last night’s points.) The following [...]

Tonight’s 5 “Other” Games To Watch

Written by Jamal Murphy | November 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Busting Brackets (NCAAB)

My friend Blake already did a great job taking care of tonight’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge match-ups. Let’s look at some other, less heralded match-ups of significance… #14 Pittsburgh (5-1) at Duquesne (3-2) Pittsburgh has been under the radar and a bit of a disappointment to some early this season, due in large part to their home loss to Long Beach State. If you look closely though, Pitt has looked better recently, thanks to the additional playing time given to heralded freshman Khem Birch. Birch has responded by averaging 11.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in the last two games. Duquesne will [...]

College Names Wacky II

Written by Lew Freedman | November 30, 2011 | Comments Off | Busting Brackets (NCAAB)

What is the absolute coolest school nickname in college basketball? What would you be if you could be a tree? No, wait, that’s an old standby joke question. (But it might well be a Sycamore, as in Indiana State). Just the other day I was talking about the weirdest and worst college nicknames. Which led me to think of the flip side. How about the best? Though there is, of course, a difference between what you would want to be and what sounds neat. I would be proud to be a Hoosier at Indiana University, but I think I have the sense [...]
