At first glance, realignment in the NHL is going to be great for the Red Wings. Well, even beyond first glance, it’s going to be pretty awesome. I would like to add another perspective though. Basically, what an additional alternative would have included. Though I think the 4 conferences are good, you still need to consider the easy/quick fix. The main option that was jilted at the alter would have been to simply move the Red Wings to the East (probably to the Northeast), move Winnipeg to the Northwest, transplant Minnesota in the Central, and finish by dropping the Bruins down [...]

We’ve spent a lot of time on this site trying to break down Badger athletics from an objective, evidence-based position. Like a botanist dissecting every part of a beautiful flower to discover how it works, it may seem like we’re missing the point. Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy took a devastating hit from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison on Thursday night. Immediately, it looked like McCoy was unconscious but he eventually found his way to his feet. McCoy still appeared to be woozy and his play after the hit was absolutely atrocious. You would have to think that the helmet to helmet hit from Harrison to McCoy resulted in a concussion. Then why didn’t the Browns even check McCoy for concussion symptoms on the sideline? The NFL, who is as safety conscious as possible, should have a big problem with this. Another figure who [...]
