I could probably write about Pujols for the rest of the week but it’s over with, I have told you guys what I think, and most importantly this is Tomahawk Take. You guys want Braves content of course, so here is a great interview with Fredi at the AJC. Here is the most insightful bit of information Fredi gives us, and should show us more what the rotation is going to look like: Q. Do you guys think Kris Medlen is a better fit for long relief out of the bullpen than starting right now? A. “He’s a wild card. [...]

Image via KUsports.com Searching for employment in these trying economic times? Try listing fired Notre Dame football coach on your resume, because lately that seems a surefire way to land a gig. Kansas tabbed Charlie Weis to take over for Turner Gill’s blinked-and-you-missed-it tenure. Lovers of football comedy rejoiced. Everyone else asked…How? Six years have past since Notre Dame made a knee-jerk reaction as abrupt as KU’s firing of Gill, signing Weis to a contract that would only be 60 percent complete had his run with the Irish not ended. And what a spectacularly disastrous end it was. The final [...]

Hey Niner Fans we are in the Playoffs it feels so good to be able to write that. As a lifelong Niner fan and football enthusiast it’s great to be back in the dance. Over the next few weeks I will be looking into the possibilities for the playoffs and what match ups could bode well for the Niner’s . Once again congrats to the 49ers and all the Faithful that have stuck it out. With four weeks left in the Season a lot can happen and a lot will happen but first and foremost the Niners need to keep the number 2 [...]

The Chicago Cubs may have traded for third baseman Ian Stewart on Thursday, but that was far from the team’s biggest move of the day. The Cubs biggest move of the day was the fact that they did nothing. We’ve heard all week that president of baseball operations Theo Epstein has had discussions with Dan Lozano, the agent who represents Albert Pujols. Those discussion eventually resulted in Epstein making a contract offer to Pujols. While the Miami Marlins and St Louis Cardinals offered deals that were for 10 years and 220+ million, the belief is that the Cubs offered a [...]

Have they been sitting across a conference room table for weeks, sliding a piece of paper back and forth? Did they forget to write a number on it? Is everyone too distracted by Dan Lozano’s sporadic sinister chuckling?

At this point Darren McFadden missing another practice isn’t news. When he finally does fully participate in a practice session there will be reason for discussion. For now it looks like there is not a Norv Turner’s chance of coaching a team to the Super Bowl that McFadden will play Sunday. Beyond this week there is no way of knowing when we’ll ever see McFadden again this season. Some have already begun to quietly question if it is time to just shut him down for the rest of the year. After all, just how effective will Run DMC be after [...]

For the record I want the Lakers to get Chris Paul into a purple and gold uniform. I’m not happy about having to thin out the frontline in order to do so. But, hey, if you want to stop getting burned by J.J. Barea then you’ve got to trade a few big men…I guess. All that being said, unless the Lakers can workout a deal agreed to by a collective of NBA owners then it doesn’t make much sense to approve a trade involving a league owned team. That might sound unusual coming from a Laker fan such as myself [...]

The word of the week is discipline. From Lovie Smith to Rod Marinelli and Mike Tice to Mike Martz and Dave Toub, those words need to be seared into the players’ brains this week. If the Bears are disciplined this week, they will beat the Denver Broncos; t’s as simple as that. Discipline on Defense For Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs and the rest of the defenders, this game poses a unique challenge. Most of them haven’t faced an option offense like the one Tim Tebow and the Broncos run since college. Lovie Smith’s defense is a gap control defense that [...]

You might have heard that Albert Pujols signed a 10-year, $254 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It’s hard to blame the Angels for shelling out such a hefty sum. After all, we are talking about a player that hit 0.328/.420/.617 in his 11-years with the St. Louis Cardinals. We’re also talking about a guy who has played in no fewer than 143 games in any season since making his debut while amassing 88.7 WAR. That works out to 1,705 games in 11 seasons for an average of 155 games per year. It’s hard to imagine that [...]
