Canadian welterweight Justin Mein was dominating his opponent, Tyler Stinson, at the Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy event at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. Mein was never in serious trouble during the fight and the most serious strike landed on him came from the Strikeforce cameraman.
After Stinson landed a takedown in the corner of the cage, Mein quickly scrambled back to his feet. On his way up, Mein got cracked in the head by the cageside camera. You could hear the impact on the television and there was no question the cameraman landed the most significant strike of the fight.
Here is video of the incident. Ouch.
Mein and the folks at Strikeforce are lucky that he wasn’t knocked out or rocked by the camera. He is lucky to escape without any serious cut that could have ended the fight as well. Since no one was hurt, we can now look at the incident and laugh. The cameraman was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
