Kyrie Irving Challenges Kobe To One-On-One

David Richard-US PRESSWIRE

NBA Rookie of the Year Kyrie Irving is showing he thinks he’s ready for primetime. The Cleveland Cavalier has issued a challenge to the one and only Kobe Bryant. You see, Irving thinks he can take Kobe one on one.

It all went down at Team USA’s pre-2012 Summer Olympics training camp in Las Vegas. Thankfully, a camera crew from DukeBluePlanet.com was there and caught the whole incident on tape.

At first, Kobe scoffs at the idea, pointing out Iriving’s youth, but the ROY doesn’t back down.

“This is not a high school kid coming to you — ‘Kobe, Kobe, oh my God!’” Irving says. “This is me, coming to talk to you, one-on-one.”

Kobe then ups the stakes and tells Irving that if he wants to play, he’ll have to pay.

$50K!

Then, in a master stroke, Kobe makes it personal but bringing Irving’s family into the trash-talking in a move you’d expect to see on your local playground.

“But I know your dad don’t think you can beat me one-on-one,” Bryant says. “I know that. I know that.

“Get your dad on the phone right now. Be like, ‘Pops, I’m trying to bet Kob’ 50 grand I can beat him one-on-one.’ He’ll be like, ‘Son, are you crazy? Are you crazy?’”

Ok, enough from us. The video is good-natured and hilarious and our recap can’t do it justice. But after you take it in, you have to let us know what you think. If it went down, would Irving stand a chance?
