The Rangers are continuing to make moves, but with the trade deadline gone and past, the moves are internal ones but nonetheless big ones.
After acquiring Ryan Dempster from the Chicago Cubs, Texas has announced it will place right-hander Neftali Feliz will undergo Tommy John surgery, ending his season in July. Feliz was 3-1 in seven starts this year for the Rangers and had racked up 37 strikeouts, posting an ERA of 3.16.
The Rangers also announced that starter Roy Oswalt isn’t going to be a starter anymore. After a 3-2 record and an ERA north of 6.00, manager Ron Washington has sent Oswalt to the bullpen. Oswalt’s trip to the pen is also a direct result of his eight run, 11-hit outing against the Angels.
The move of Oswalt to the Rangers bullpen makes room for Ryan Dempster who is scheduled to be with the team tomorrow.
