Carmelo Anthony, Team USA Shatter Olympic Records With 156-73 Win Over Nigeria

The USA basketball team destroyed first-time Olympians Nigeria by a score of 156-73 today in the London Olympics. Team USA was led by New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony as they went on to a dominant performance that shattered USA and Olympic records.

Anthony led the Americans with 37 points — a Team USA scoring record — while the 156 points by Team USA was the highest score total in Olympic history.

To add to the record books, the USA shot 70 percent from the field and added 41 assists. As you can imagine, those are also both Olympic records. But that wasn’t enough for them. The previous Olympic record for three-pointers was 13 and Team USA hit 29 shots from downtown tonight.

The Americans advance to 3-0 in pool play and have yet to face any real competition. They are the hands down favorite to win the Olympic gold and they continue to show why. It is hard to picture this team losing anytime soon.
