Olympic sprinter Kim Collins of St. Kitts & Nevis was preparing for one of the biggest moments of his life. Unfortunately for Collins, the dream quickly turned into a nightmare. Collins learned that he would not be able to compete in the games and was being booted from the Olympics. The reason for Collins’ dismissal leaves a bad taste in many people’s mouths.
Collins was dismissed from the Olympics after making a visit to his wife in a hotel. He announced the news via social media:
“Hours before my 5th 100m olympic race, i now find out i cant run,all because i was in a hotel with my wife/coach. S.K.N.O.C REALLY? Are you freakig kiddin me!!!!!!!!”
“My fans. I won’t lie. Won’t be running later tonight. …For those who saw me run in Mexico. That’s the last time I represent my country. Even men in prison get their wives to visit.”“
Collins carried the flag for St. Kitts & Nevis during the opening ceremonies. It was the fifth Olympics for the 36-year-old. It’s an unfortunate ending to Collins’ Olympic career and a black eye on the London games.
