A fight spilled over onto the sidelines at New York Jets training camp today, a fight that involved as many as 20 Jets players. The fight occurred after a play when running back Joe McKnight threw the ball at cornerback D’Anton Lynn. Seth Walder of the New York Daily Post was right there to catch most of the fight:
On the play, McKnight caught a pass and was shoved out of bounds by Lynn. The two began a minor scuffle with words exchanged before McKnight hurled the ball at Lynn. At this point the Jets players rushed over and began to get involved.
The worst oart of the ordeal was that it occurred right next to the fans — and fans have cell phones. The Jets couldn’t have picked a worse spot to fight unless they tore down the walls at Bristol during alive telecast of SportsCenter. Coach Rex Ryan ran hustled over to the scuffled and began throwing players off the pile.
Soon after everything cooled down, things got back to normal. A few plays later McKnight washit hard by Damon Harrison and was helped off the field by trainers.
