United States Swimmer Missy Franklin won five medal at the 2012 London Olympics and she commemorated the occasion by getting a tattoo.
Teenage girls apparently love tattoos. We all went to High School, we remember just about every girl from the rocker chicks with sleeves to the cheerleaders with little flowers on their foot, girls like ink.
United States swimmer Missy Franklin is no exception to this rule. But unlike other teenaged girls, she gets to be creative with her tattoo — no matter how…let’s say questionable the location may be.
Franklin took the 2012 London Olympics by storm and showed off her skill that had many calling her one of the next great American swimmers. Franklin took home four gold medals and a bronze from the London games and has now fused herself with that memory forever.
That’s right, Missy Franklin is all tatted up with Olympic thigh pride. Franklin tweeted a photo of the tattoo, introducing the world to her Olympic ink.
“All inked up! AHHH! Can’t Believe it! My one and only!” She tweeted with this attached photo:

17-year old American swimmer Missy Franklin got all inked up to commemorate her five Olympic medals.
Franklin’s tattoo wasn’t the only bizarre tattoo a medalist got. Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice immortalized her two Olympics trips with a tattoo in an…interesting place.
So is there a contract that says winning a gold medal means you have to get an oddly placed tattoo to commemorate the occasion? Rice’s isn’t that strange but Franklin’s is probably going to upset her more conservative followers given its provocative location. But hey, Franklin can do as she pleases. After all she did win four gold medals for the land of the free to get inked up wherever you want.
I just can’t wait for the 2016 Games and the Olympian who finally steps up and raises the bar with the Olympic rings tattooed to their forehead. Now that’s national pride.
