Rumors started circulating last night and today they have continued. There is rampant speculation and a widespread belief by many that future UFC Hall of Famer Dan Henderson suffered a right knee injury and will be forced out of the UFC 151 main event against Jon Jones.
No reporter would go on record saying that they have confirmed the news but many credible people in MMA media were passing along the news that they heard bad news would soon be coming.
UFC announcer Kenny Florian was one of the first to pass along a cryptic tweet:
Hearing that we may have some disappointed
@ufc fans soon due to some unfortunate circumstances for an upcoming card.— Kenny Florian (@kennyflorian) August 23, 2012
Bleacher Report’s MMA writer Jeremy Botter also heard some bad news late last night:
If what I’m hearing is correct, UFC 151 may be in desperate need of a main event. And that sucks.

Henderson later tweeted that he had just completed a good training session with members of his team. There is one problem there. One of the fighters that Henderson tagged in his tweet was Tarec Saffiedine and Saffiedine had just said he hasn’t seen Henderson since his last fight which was August 18th.
Henderson has been seen wearing a huge brace on his right knee so there is definitely reason to believe Henderson has in fact injured his knee. Just how bad is it? That’s what we will have to see develop as this story continues and it looks like we could have some answers soon. Henderson’s jiu jitsu coach said, ”bad day, and with a really tough decision to be made”
If Henderson is forced out of the main event, UFC 151 desperately needs a big name to save the pay-per view. I know one guy who could do just that.
