For the first time in 21 years, the New York Yankees traveled to the south side of Chicago and got swept. After the game, Yankees skipper Joe Girardi was understandably less-than pleased about his teams performance but he wasn’t going off on reporters in typical manager who just lost three games fashion.
But when a (likely drunk) White Sox fan began heckling Girardi during his post game press conference, it didn’t take long for the manager to lose his cool  and act like an anger manager who just got devastated on the south side.
It’s hard to understand what the fan was shouting, but it sounds like “Yankees swept…yes!”, mimicking Sox broadcaster Hawk Harrleson’s famous homerun call and his line to end the series against the Yankees on CSN Chicago’s broadcast of the game.
Needless to say, Girardi didn’t like it, and snapped back with a remark, exclaiming he was trying to do an interview.
“Shut up!” Girardi snapped at one point, pushing his way through the huddled mass of media members to try and get a good look at the fan. Girardi returned moments later and picked up where he left off, not missing a single beat.
Classic Girardi, and classic White Sox fan antics. But I mean come on, you can’t blame the guy for having one too many brewskies and then spouting off his mouth in true Chicagoan fashion.
Girardi has good reason to be frustrated though. His ballclub is now just three games ahead of a dangerous Tampa Bay Rays team and even now have to watch their backs for the Orioles.
