Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was contained by the San Francisco 49ers during the team’s loss Sunday afternoon but the week is only getting worse. Rodgers has lost a bet that could force him into a 49ers jersey all week.
Per TMZ, Aaron Rodgers and R&B legends Boyz II Men are close friends. At some point prior to the 49ers at Packers season opener, Rodgers had asked the group if they would sing the National Anthem at Lambeau Field. The group agreed to the proposal under one stipulation.
Aaron Rodgers had to wear a 49ers jersey if the Packers were to lose. If the Packers won, one of the group members – Nathan Morris, who is a big 49ers fan — had to wear a Rodgers jersey.
Rodgers accepted the bet, Boyz II Men sang the National Anthem at the Packers home opener and then the Packers lost.
Rodgers is very familiar with the 49ers. During his childhood, Rodgers was a huge fan of San Francisco and one day hoped to wear a 49ers uniform. This isn’t exactly what he had in mind.
The 49ers also passed on Rodgers in favor of their current starter Alex Smith. The move led to a draft day slide for Rodgers in 2005 which the Packers eventually stopped. This past Sunday, passing on Rodgers in favor of Smith worked out in the 49ers favor.
San Francisco and Green Bay are two of the favorites in the NFC. It is very possible that the two teams could face off against each other in the postseason. We wonder if Rodgers and Boyz II Men will once again have a friendly wager.
