Missouri Tigers Fans Place Ad In Georgia Paper

The Missouri Tigers were unsuccessful in their SEC debut against the Georgia Bulldogs last weekend. Mizzou hosted the Bulldogs at Faurot Field but fell short in their conference debut by the score of 41-20. While it wasn’t exactly the debut the Tigers had hoped for, Missouri fans enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to continuing their play in the SEC.

This week, the Tigers fans took out an ad and placed it in the Athens Banner-Herald.

While you would immediately think that it could be some trash talk involved, the Tigers fans were classy in defeat and thanked the Bulldog fans for coming to the game and making the experience at “The Zou” an enjoyable one. It’s too bad there aren’t more college fans like this.

Here is the ad the Tigers took out in the Georgia newspaper:

wow. i guess i shouldn’t be surprised considering this is the same state holding most st. louis cardinals fans (who have shown time and time again they have the classiest fans in baseball- p.s. go braves :) ), but this is definitely a classy gesture, and they played hard for most of that game. go dawgs!

Love the sportsmanship! Great way to come into the SEC. Fighting hard and embracing all the fans. Excellent gesture by Mizzou.

    Tiger Town, Shot at LSU/Auburn?

    • http://www.facebook.com/AndrewLaing.LSUfan Andrew Laing

No, the Tigers are the Missouri mascots also and Tiger Town is the name that a group had come up with for the downtown district for a few blocks of businesses which were going to specifically cater to all of the SEC fans that come to Columbia to visit.

“Tiger Drunks” would have been a shot at LSU lol

I already like these Tigers more than the other two. Stay classy.

Sounds like something that Clemson fans should take notice on.

That’s not the Red & Black (the student newspaper at UGA). That’s from the Athens Banner-Herald, the “professional” newspaper.

I guess when you can’t beat, you should stick your nose up their a**. Misery and the Ags take brown-nosing to a higher level. If the misery fans are going to do this after every game in which another SEC team whips their a**, they’ll be spending a lot of money in the future.

    • Jerett

I can only assume you are from Kansas and a KU fan, so it is no surprise to me that you don’t know the difference between class/sportsmanship and brown nosing. KU could learn a thing or two from the MU football program, as could you.

Mizzou loses 6 games 2012, was unranked, is unranked, will be unranked, and will not have a winning SEC record. While both Texas A and M and Mizzou have fans and stadiums that look the part of SEC teams, Mizzou averages 62,095 fans to their games, # 25 in the nation in attendance. Tonight we play Florida Atlantic, in “Greg McGarity’s Schedule 2012.” Will we be booing our own team, again ?

Top shelf – Welcome to the SEC – the best college football conference in the nation. Do your best – enjoy the ride and know you have 8 bone jarring, hard hitting, intense contests this year. The SEC is a grind and it produces the NC every year. Can’t wait for the playoffs in college football – you can be sure 3 of the 4 will be SEC teams every year.
