The Ohio State Buckeyes are off to an impressive start to their 2012 campaign. A big part of the Buckeyes success has been sophomore quarterback Braxton Miller. How impressive has Miller been for Ohio State? He’s looked so good that head coach Urban Meyer has delivered the highest praise you could get from Meyer.
Meyer said that Miller is more talented than his former quarterback when he was with the Florida Gator. That quarterback is none other than Tim Tebow.
According to Lori Schmidt of Fear the Hat, Meyer chose to compare his two dual-threat quarterbacks but gave the edge in talent to his current starter.
“Very similar guys,” Meyer said during a call-in radio appearance with 97.1 The Fan. “They’re both competitive human beings. They’re both very talented people. Braxton has more talent. Tim is probably more of a grinder.”
Considering how close of a relationship Meyer and Tebow had, it is safe to assume that the mainstream media will catch wind of these comments from Meyer and that they will discuss them non-stop over the next few days. The media has a love affair with Tebow so the fact that Meyer called his current quarterback more talented than his former signal-caller and Heisman Trophy winner will get them fired up.
Tebow is one of the greatest college football players in history so comparing Miller to him really is some high praise.
For those keeping track at home, as a sophomore Tebow had 1,037 total yards with 13 touchdowns through the first three weeks of the 2007 season when he ultimately won the Heisman Trophy. Miller currently has 988 total yards with 12 touchdowns through the first three games of his sophomore campaign.
Meyer may not be as crazy as he will be made out to be.
