The NFL’s replacement officials have transcended sports. Not only have they substantially affected the quality of each NFL game, and the integrity, but they have caused an unforeseen outcry.
The NFL is facing a scenario that is unprecedented — professional referees are locked out, talks between the two sides seem to be stalled, and the replacement officials designed to maintain the integrity in their absence have failed miserably in their objective.
LeBron James is one of many professional athletes outraged with the blatant incompetence of the NFL. He tweeted his frustrations on the issue last night.
“These replacement refs gotta go man!! Packers just got game took from them. I LOVE NFL football to much to see this type of work.”
James, a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, later added that he emphatiszes with the Green Bay Packers, who dropped to 1-2 and are tied with the Detroit Lions for fourth place in the NFC North. (They hold the tiebreaker because of their win over the Chicago Bears.)
“I simply just LOVE the NFL to much to see these mistakes. I’m sick like I just played for the Packers”
James’ teammate, Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers, said he would boycott the NFL until the professional referees come to a settlement with the league.
Dirk Nowitzki shared the same sentiment with Chalmers as he also tweeted that he would not watch another NFL game because it has became a “farce.”
In an odd turn of events the NBA officials have suddenly became the most credible officials in professional sports.
If the NFL wants to maintain respectability, and prevent becoming a laughing stock, the impetus for a settlement may have been provided last night.
