The NFL has announced the NFC recipients of their weekly performance awards. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons and New York Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes were named the Offensive Player of the Week, Defensive player of the week and Special Teams Player of the Week respectively.
Fitzgerald earned his Offensive Player of the Week honors with his nine catch, 114 yards and one touchdown performance in the Cardinals’ 27-6 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. During his nine catch outing, Fitzgerald became the youngest player in NFL history to rack up 700 receptions.
Clemons received the award after his career high four sacks for the Seahawks in their stunning and controversial 14-12 win over the Green Bay Packers. Clemons has been a big part of the Seattle defensive unit which has allowed the fewest points per week in the league.
Tynes also had a career high game with his five field goal outing against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football. Tynes was instrumental in the Giants blowout win.
