Jets WR Santonio Holmes to Have MRI Monday, Likely Out with Achilles Tear

The New York Jets day couldn’t have been any worse than last week when they lost Darrelle Revis for the season with an ACL tear, but at least they scored points in that contest. Not only were the Jets shut out at home against the 49ers, they have likely lost another piece of their team for a significant period of time.

Wide reciever Santonio Holmes suffered a foot injury early in the game and was promptly taken to the locker room for further evaluation. Although the initial diagnosis on Holmes showed he didn’t have nay broken bones, those close to the Jets are saying that Holmes still has a lot to be worried about and in reference to his foot, “Something isn’t right.”

Since there is no broken bones, but there is till massive concern about Holmes, the only logical thing to point to is a tendon issue of some sort. The easy injury to point to would be Holmes Achilles tendon. But there could be any number of things wrong with Holmes, and the Jets are trying their beest to get to the bottom of this.

A second opinion will be given on Monday with the MRI but this is bad news for the Jets. They showed they couldn’t stop anything without Revis Island on the field and his absence ran deeper than just talent on the field, it felt like the Jets were just not there. Now that Holmes is out, although he’s not as significant a part of the team, it’s still a blow that the Jets weren’t ready to receive.
