The Wake Forest Demon Deacons dropped Saturday’s game to the Duke Blue Devils by a score 34-27. While the loss hurt the Demon Deacons, they suffered a more significant loss on their roster. Top wide receiver Michael Campanaro suffered an injury in the first quarter of the game and never returned. Campanaro had two receptions for eight yards before leaving the game.
Initial diagnosis from the team was a broken hand for Campanaro. There is no timetable for his return.
The loss of Campanaro is going to be huge for the Demon Deacons offense. Heading into this week, Campanaro averaged nine receptions per game which ranked fifth in the nation. He averaged 105.2 yards per game which had him ranked at twelfth in the country.
Wake Forest will look to rebound from their loss at home next weekend as they travel to College Park to take on Maryland.
Duke advanced to 4-1 and are currently on a three game win streak. They will look to carry on their winning momentum next week at home in Durham against Virginia.
