The Carolina Panthers announced some terrible news for the franchise today. In a devastating blow to the team’s chances at turning things around during the 2012-13 NFL season, the Panthers have announced starting center Ryan Kalil will miss the remainder of the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with a foot injury.

The Panthers passed along the news on their official Twitter account:

The three-time Pro Bowler Kalil is considered by many to be the best center in the game.

Carolina has been very disappointing this season and losing Kalil for the year is just the latest devastating blow to the team. If quarterback Cam Newton was unhappy with losing before, he could be in for a total meltdown as the Panthers turn into a significantly worse team without Kalil in the middle of the offensive line.
