On the very first play of the game, the Jaguars set a nasty tone when running back Maurice Jones-Drew was ganged up on and appeared to land awkwardly on his ankle. He walked off the field under his own power and propmtly went right to the trainer’s bench to get evaluated.

Jones-Drew was later seen with his helmet on, standing on the sideline but that apparently was false hope for Jags fans as Jones-Drew not only went back to the bench to get taped up, but he’s now been carted off the field and to the Jacksonville locker room to get his ankle looked at even further by the Jaguars training staff.

Rashad Jennings, the guy who was rumored to oust Jones-Drew at the behest of owner Shad Khan when the Pro-Bowler was holding out for a new contract, is in the game while Jones-Drew sits in the locker room.

No word had been given on whether Jones-Drew will return to the game, and it’s a bit confusing as to why he’s been carted to the locker room when you figure in that he not only walked off the field casually after the play he was injured on, but he looked like he was ready to come back in the game at one point when he stood on the sideline chalk with his helmet on.

If Jones-Drew is lost, the Jaguars will turn to Jennings and more importantly young quarterback Blaine Gabbert to win the game.
