The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for their biggest game of the year this weekend when they face off against their SEC rivals — the Florida Gators. While the Bulldogs were on a bye week and preparing for the big game, they received some great news about one of the best defensive players in the country.
Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones, who suffered a sprained ankle when the Bulldogs played South Carolina, has been resting and should be a go when they face off against the Gators.
“My hope’s that he’ll be able to practice as early as Monday, is what I hope. Whether or not that happens, I’m not sure,” said Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt. “He’s definitely making progress, and I think there’s a very good chance he’ll play.
“But again, if he’s not healthy enough to go then we’re not gonna do it. But I think there’s a good chance he will.”
Having the All-American suited up again will be a big boost for the team. If Georgia can upset the Gators, they control their own destiny and would just have to get wins over Ole Miss and Auburn to claim the SEC East title. Those two opponents who have struggled mightily this season notching only one win between the two of them.
For the Gators, it is a much easier task. All Florida needs to do is defeat Georgia and the SEC East crown is theirs.
