Former Houston Rockets center Yao Ming is a very, very tall man. That is part of the reason that he leaped — figuratively… Yao didn’t really have impressive hops — into superstardom in the NBA. Yao ended his playing days over a year ago and he has apparently been spending his off time as most retired men do — by playing golf.
Yao played at the Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament in Haikou, China this weekend.
As you can imagine, his 7-foot-6 frame and six foot long clubs led to an incredibly awkward swing but something that have to see. Check out this incredible video of Yao’s swing at the celebrity tournament:
Yao whiffed on his first wedge shot and came up completely short of the green on his second attempt. While Yao still has a lot of work to do in his golf game, it could always be worse. His golf game isn’t pretty but Yao is far from the worst former NBA player turned recreational golfer in history. That title will always belong to Sir Charles Barkley.
